Well here we are - only 4 days to go!

Here's what we have accumulated:

  • My "original" certified copy of my Birth Certificate (produced in 1984, 2 yrs after my birth).
  • Ben's birth certificate, three times over - once as a fax from the US, once as a proper certified copy (last yr), once as some other thing (not certified).
  • Bank statements and other garb to prove we're at the same address.
  • My I-94.
  • My passport.
  • Photos from Christmas, Thanksgiving with us together, and a big scrapbook I've been making for our future babies to show where we both came from (with maps and family seals!), our lives growing up, meeting one another (including plane ticket stubs, National Express stubs and the like).
  • Wedding photos (now more of them too!) in the scrapbook.
  • A certified copy of our marriage certificate.
  • Cards to both of us, a couple from our wedding, Christmas and a couple from cute VJ'ers who we love!
  • My EAD card, and my MN Driver's Permit.
  • Almost all of the wage slips for Ben since the I-864 was made (except a couple from the last coupla months that got washed with his jeans...do you think they will make a big deal out of that?)
  • My first three wage slips from Carlson Craft, and a letter from my supervisor confirming my hours and rates of pay.
  • Medical insurance cards for both of us, in each individual name, sponsored by my employer.
  • Possibly the taxes, if they're done...separately filed under this address, as married.
  • The interview notice!

We'll also take all of the photocopied stuff we submitted in the first place - maybe photocopies of our birth certificates. We have a co-sponsor (his Mom) but I don't know if we'll need her anymore now that have a job, but her birth certificate is very old, and she wouldn't want them to take it - can they make copies of these documents after looking at them? My Mum didn't manage to get a certified copy in time - she works very hard almost 24/7 - so I have this battered old certified copy from 1984, and she'd really like me to keep it! Anyone have any experience with asking them to do this?

Anything I've forgotten....? :P(F)

Jay Jay looks good. I would make a second copy of his mom's birth certificate to give to them if they ask. Keep the original in your purse or whatever to show them if they ask to see it. Good luck.

I think you are good to go. Ask the interviewer that you want the original back and he/she will make a copy - ours did for the ones I didn't want him to keep the originals for - medical insurance card and visa card. Good Luck

So the whole "Spouse's evidence of United States ciizenship" thing would be covered by the birth certificate, am I right? We have about three, as he was born to a ilitary family in Germany.

And what are you guy's experiences with the need for a co-sponsor at interview when at the time of interview, both married people are working? What do you think the chances are of not having to have his Mom as a co-sponsor?

I suppose I am also hoping that they won't be 100% pinickity about the absence of to paystubs (he gets paid weekly, so there are tons!) due to the washingness of the clothes :P I'm thinking not.

And don't you worry Autumnal - thank you for thinking of it - we don't mind that it may not get here in time! Several VJ members have sent us cards, and for that, I am so thankful - we will put them in our scrapbook to show them to our kids as a memoir of the visa process and an example of the good people I met here on VJ! (F)

Mary, you're a star - good idea about the copies - I will either photocopy them at work, or take a digital picture and print it out, to save some time :) I hope you're well! (F)

Motu - thank you! I had a feeling they might do this from another review I read, but you put my mind at rest :)(F)

Ashley - thank you for the kind words and thoughts! (F)

Theangells - thank you as well! (F):D

Den - thank you too!!!! (F):)

Thender and Jason - many many thanks also - we have at least one clear plastic wallet, and I will use it for the highest bidding piece of paper..meeh hehehehe! :D:P(F)

Good Luck with your inteview

If the washed paystub are any in the last 3 paypierods before the interview you may want to get copies, if not forget about them

Yep, they are - but getting copies at this stage is going to be pretty hard...however we have about 20,000 others lol - and he gets paid weekly as well, so there are a lot of examples. Just hope they don't make a fuss - hubby's company aren't exactly in the 21st century yet regarding paystub matters like that :P
