Help if someone knows

This is about school and financial aid. I can get out some money to finish my studies, but I have to prove that I am eligible here. My I-94 of course is expired, and I don't have AOS yet. So I am sort of hanging here and nowhere. Even this is possible and they know that, and I am legally here in USA, how can I prove that i am in middle of process, but this doesnt mean i am illegal here?

What to do? Any experience from VJ family? Can USCIS state this somehow. Is there some forms requesting information for schools? :help:

P.S. College is very excited to have me, but they have foreign students who traveled here with student visas and then go back. Case like mine when I am foreign and in the same time resident is first time for them.

P.S.S. It is so important for me. I am not the person who can do nothing and watch TV all the time. I will loose my mind if I wont keep my brain busy. I feel like I am waisting my time for so ridiculous reasons, have willing to be so good resident here, but they don't allow it to me? Why?

Can't you show them your NOA2 letter from the K-1, or your NOA1 or interview letter from your AOS? This shows your current status with the USCIS.

For AOS I have NOA1. But it says - Application to register permanent residence or adjust for status. They don't say what is my current status. This doesn't says I have current legal status, it just says i am trying to get one.

Your K-1 visa is still in your passport, correct? The school should accept the K-1 visa itself as proof that you are not here illegally. My wife showed her passport with her K-1 in it, and the school accepted that as proof of status.

Show them your NOA from your AOS application. That's all the proof that they should need to show what your current status is (pending Adjustment).

This is what I got:

The Department of Homeland Security did not have enough information to

confirm that you are an eligible non- citizen (Item 14). You must contact the

financial aid office at your school to find out what information is needed. If

you do not submit the required information within 30 days, or longer if your

school allows, you may not be eligible for federal student aid.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always thought that one becomes eligible for FAFSA only after he/she receives an actual green card. I thought you couldn't apply for aid if your AOS is still pending.

Hmm, seems no. Because In FAFSA form there is questions about this. I can not be US citizen, I need alien number and be legally here, but I don't know how to prove it. Maybe only after AOS I am legal non-citizen.

Then who I am now???

What is my status. Maybe I really misunderstanding something?

I don't want to be year delayed, but right now too much is going on and we are tight with money. Some more do nothing time and I will loose my marbles.

That's how I understood it - my husband adjusted from a B2 but as far as I was told, he needed to have a green card to be eligible for the aid.

An NOA for an application to adjust status is not acceptable as proof of being an eligible non citizen
