Do Tax returns have to be notarized

Hello:

My father's (co-sponsor) tax return was filed by his CPA and we have a client copy of his returns from the CPA. Do we need to get the actual tax return transcript from IRS or just the client copy is sufficient??

And also, do the tax returns have to be notarized

Both are OK. But if you wish there to be no doubt at the Consulate, get a transcript from IRS.GOV. Either way, you should be just fine. They do not have to be notarized.

It may depend on how you are using them.

Based on my reading of the instructions for how to prove support via the London Embassy (so things may be different for you, check your packet 3) you can show support through EITHER the I-134 or by compiling basically the exact same information in an affidavit but not using that form. The I-134 does not require tax returns to be notarized. But the instructions for putting together a non-I-134 proof DO seem to require them to be notarized.

If you're using the I-134, read the instructions carefully and just follow what they say. If it does not require a notarized copy, then don't worry about it. You will have the whole I-134 notarized, which means that you are affirming under oath that you are the one signing it and that it contains accurate information.

NO, only form I-134 gets notarized.

In our case this what the I-134 included.

• I-134 signed and notarized.
  
• Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years, (Redundant for the (1040,W2,1099) but are free from the IRS
  
• Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for past 3 years
  
• Letter from my employer stating annual salary, job responsibility, and that is full time, on company letterhead.
  
• Photo copies of past 6 months pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.

The only document the consulate here in Austria asks to get notarized is the affidavit, nothing else.
