My card finally came in the mail yesterday - woohoo!

A question I have for those that are now going through the naturalization/citizenship process. Is there anyone who has been able to file for dual citizenship. Anyone know how to get more information regarding this? I would like to keep both Canadian and US citizenship and apply for dual citizenship. Any downsides to doing this? Any limitations?

Thanks!

A NOTE: This follow up question should be , if you have any additional questions, answered in a thread better related to your new journey.

There is no universal rule for dual citizenship. Every country has their own rules regarding if a national can carry multiple citizenships. Likewise, the rules vary for the country your applying for naturalization.

In your case, you’d need to probably either contact the Canadian consulate or embassy or visit their website and see what the law says about holding dual or multiple citizenships.

Likewise, I believe the N400 has lots of guides and instructions that go along with filing which should include information on becoming a citizen in the US.

My interview will be in San Diego, CA on 9/23.

Here are documents that applied to me for my preparation:

1. Green Card

2. Appointment Letter

3. Passport + another ID Card

4. Marriage Certificate

5. Spouse's birth certificate/citizenship certificate

6, All original documents that I sent my copies before for my I-751 and N-400, that includes:

  • All Pictures / Post on Social Media
  • Flight tickets / Hotels for all trips together
  • Calls / Texts reports
  • Car / Health / Life Insurance
  • Bank Statements
  • Station Orders (my husband in Navy and we not live together due to he moves a lot, so I always need to have his orders)
  • Power of Attorney (they asked me before for my 2 years Green Card)
  • Receipts of Gifts
  • Letters from 2-3 friends about our relationship

So far I can only think of those.

If you see anything else I need, please give me some advice.

Thanks

Thanks for the info! I'll let you know if anything i fndout about docs. Thanks!

Hello Folks!

We originally applied at CSC than got transferred to Nebraska, from Nebraska to National Benefit Center on Aug2nd, we never got letter for the first time explaining why or update on the app.

Called USCIS yesterday and lady told us when she checked our case that on one place we were transferred to NBC and on another one to local office and most likely we are going to have interview.

How much time they usually give you before interview to organize, cause we already have planned our trip in September?

Some people say sometimes you only have few days to organize from the time they let you know about that which is very scary.

Hello everyone. Just got some exciting news. We were one of those cases of radio silence throughout the process, other than the whole "re-using fingerprints...actually just kidding get new fingerprints" thing. Fingerprints were completed May 20, 2019, and again, silence since then. And our case never got moved like some people here; we were at CSC throughout.

Just got an email notification, and the old site updated: "On August 23, 2019, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number WAC181925****, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

Interestingly, the new site is still not updated, stuck on "fingerprints were completed in May." We also never got a specific "Approval" notification. In fact, this one says nothing about approval either. Only that the card has been ordered and will be mailed.

Anyways, we wish the best of luck to everyone still patiently waiting. What a mess this whole system is...

Because I am a divorce waiver, interview is normal.  No RFE.

My research and docs are impeccable, thanks to Visa Journey.

Ah, okay. I’m so happy you’ve had movement on your case. I try not to think about it daily before I lose my mind. Hoping for some good news soon.
