Hey everyone,

My husband finally got his visa. Alhamdulillah

Visa was issued 1/14/2020

First  interview November 6th, 2018 and my husband was given DS 5535 and put on Ap. I then filed a WOM  end of September 2019 and that’s when embassy asked my husband to redo his medical and resubmit DS260 online. Also my husband old expired passport was sent back in beginning of December 2019 to renew. Then Mid December 2019 my husband revived an email to come in for reoath and finger prints on Jan 14,2020.

Janurary 14,2020 visa issued and they kept passport and said they will mail it with visa within 10-12 days.

Janurary 16, 2020 status online changed to issued

Janurary 21, 2020 passport ready for pick up.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Hello,

I have been following this site and this thread for past 5 months now.But i have never posted anything. So this is my first post and here is my case.

Visa Category    F4

Interview date   24 july 2019

Status shows   Administrative processing (Stuck for 6 months now)

Here is what has happened so far.Our interview was on 24th of july 2019.It went good but was very short.Co asked few questions and at the end said everything is good from your side but we have to do some administrative processing and did not ask for any document to be submitted. But 2 days later we recieved DS5535 for 1 family memeber whoes over 20 years. She kept our passports but gave us 221g with 2nd marked ticked.Which says your case needs some administrative processing please contact us every 2 months. So overall we had about 10 to 15 updates i guess in 6 months.Latest update was on 27 November 2019 and then 6 December 2019.I have seen on their web that administrative processing is solved within 180 days (6 months) but its been 194 days but still we are stuck in Ap.I have seen some cases solved in 8 months we are also hoping to get our case solved in max 8 months.Have you guys seen any case similar to us.Please share your kind thoughts

Kind regards

Ehsan.

Hi Ehsan, nobody really knows how long AP will last. My husband was given a ds5535 and was in AP for 7.5 months. His visa got issued on its own, they asked for new medical. I was on the verge of suing the embassy but ended up not doing it because the visa got issued on its own. My advice would be to wait like 2 months then think about suing the embassy with a writ of mandamus. Good luck.

I am still stuck in AP for my J1- Visa. The ceac website shows no updates. I am slowly but surely approaching ONE year of just waiting. They have sent back my passport with a note saying that my AP might take longer that normal (3 months is the normal span or something).

I don't know what to do and I seem to be the only one whose status is not being updated AT all. The last update was a few days right after my interview when I sent in the DS5535 in 2019 and since then, NOTHING has happened updates wise

Please help me out here guys.

We are in the same boat then. It seems like literally everyones case is being updated except for mine/ours

My guess would be that family reunification visas have priority over J visas in completion of AP.

Suing to embassy is not a good option now. I see in 2019 more than 17 persons sued them but some cases are solved after sued most of cases pending from 6 months so I think the perception embassy give the decision within 60 days is getting wrong. I am talking about Islamabad embassy.
