I got my last update on 26th of July when I also received an email from embassy asking for 2nd medical and visa photos. Took the medical on 7th of august and mailed it through AEG on 16th August (friday).  Then 20th August I sent embassy an email(through their website) asking for confirmation. No update as of now. On top of that my passport, which is with them, has been expired. What should I do next? Wait for now?

Try calling the embassy or faxing them asking about your passport expiring. You might need to get in a renewal and send them an updated passport. If you have a lawyer, ask them to send a request for information on passport expiring on your behalf. It is strange that it seems in July and August a couple folks were asked to submit documents but there haven’t been any processing news as of yet.

Hey everyone a little update for you guys;

I've been in AP for almost 2 years "21 months ever since Dec 2017" for a CR1 visa. Kharotum, Sudan.

I was given the DS-5535 form at the time of the interview as a list of questions and sent it the following day.

In that time my US citizen husband asked both his congressman and senator to place an inquiry and they both said it was on AP. "No help whatsoever at this stage!!" They might have helped if I was in the line to get an interview or so.

I hired a lawyer few months ago and she has been working with the agencies and such. And through some digging she just found out that our case was initially going to be "denied"!!! But no one told us that. And so she said they're now reconsidering our case.

We have no red flags or anything fishy in our case!

To sum up I highly recommend you hire a good lawyer to go about this. They do not have any right of delying or denying someone on bases of basically no reason!!

Best of luck to all and hopefully I come back to write about my approval from the states with my hubby and son.

Omg, I’m so sorry that they made you guys wait so long only to hear that your case was originally going to be denied. That is something I’m afraid would happen to my husband’s case even though we have no red flags either. How was your lawyer even able to find this information out? Also, what was your lawyer’s rate? I hope you can be with your husband soon ❤️

I was telling my husband that maybe us not knowing about this denial thing earlier is a blessing! I don't know how she found out, but all she said was she was in contact with all agencies involved in the process and that was their reply.

I'm not sure how much is she charging my hubby yet, I believe the first payment was 1000-1500 dollars 🤔🤔.

Awh thank you! And you, too.

No, the lawyer is in the US! You've to hire a lawyer in the states not the forigen country. We did the papers and hiring online. She sent me the forms I needed to fill and sign and I sent her back a scan.

My husband is currently with me in Sudan to see where is this going.

Any updates? News?

AP 14 months and still waiting... has anyone in this group been issued a visa? Can use some good news

No news here.  I sent a few inquiries to Islamabad in August but they never replied or updated our case.   I contacted the Congressman's office Friday and they sent another on our behalf.  Today just before the embassy closed it finally updated but says the same on CEAC and I'm still waiting on a reply from the Congressman's office.  I'm not expecting much it will most likely be the same cut and paste but it is extremely difficult when nothing at all happens.  I was tired of seeing the same date...

I understand that feeling of getting tired of seeing the same date and feeling like your case file might be sitting under a large pile collecting dust.

My senator replied quickly this time and so did the Embassy but it was only to say that my husband is still under necessary administrative Processing, blah blah blah...

In Shaa Allah we will all hear good news soon . My husband is in Kabul Afghanistan and the news coming out of that country everyday is not good. I wish this process ends soon.

i wish all of us good news

Hello, Status for my parents updated to Expiring soon as they were interviewed Sept 11 2019. Is this normal? I see DS form reopened but it still says case is with Islamabad.

Yes after a year of AP others have had the same status.  Contact the embassy and let them know the status and the ds260 reopening.  Let them tell you if they need you to update it.  They will change the status back to AP.

Thanks. Phew I almost had a heart attack reading that. I just sent a request thru the embassy form online as their fax seems to not be working anymore. Was trying fax since it is more of a tracked copy of what we send.
