Today 6th of  April mark  2 months since my case is in AP(Ds-5535) , I don't have any case last update yet on CEAC . I am going to email Islamabad  embassy (Pakistan) and will ask them  is going on , lets see what they answer "If they answer". I have also not receive any conformation email from  them about my Ds-5535(If they received it or not and was it up to the standards and correct) .

I waited 3 years for my interview (yes for interview) and my category is IR-1......In short this whole system under Ds-5535 is broken and pure cruelty on us Humans. Especially when millions of people illegally cross into US every year.

I've been lurking for a while and decided to post about my current situation. US citizen filing for dad, IR-5 visa. Dominican Republic embassy, Interview was March 23, 2023, The embassy kept his passport and gave us the DS-5535 (it was due to his military background we're assuming). Submitted it the next day. We've been asked for paperwork two separate times, once in August 2023 and December 2023. It's been 441 days since the interview, and it's getting a little frustrating I won't lie. I'm willing to wait until October before I end up looking at a WoM as an option.

My wife's interviewer for H4 told her that visa is approved. When we didn't receive the passport, we emailed and we were told that case is in AP. So, we didn't receive the 221(G). Case status on CEAC still shows approved and received no questionnaire. Been 5 weeks. Any idea if this is normal AP or longer AP?

Sounds like normal AP (most like some embassy work left on your wife's case file).

Is AP with no DS5535 faster than AP with DS5535?

Suppose to be quicker but , This depend on many things/factors, like your personal background , your ethnicity , your religion , skin color , embassy your file is at and visa officer who is dealing with your case.

In my personal experience on online forums I saw people getting their visa in few weeks and some are waiting even after 6 months in AP without Ds-5535. So there is no set time limit.

It is Karachi embassy and it is for my wife. I just hope it is sooner. It is hard (as most people here know)

It went into AP after interview. Interviewer told us that it was approved. Later when I emailed them they told me that it was in AP. CEAC still shows approved and I emailed to ask why 2 weeks ago and no response.
