Yup that is the NVC letter... forward that email to your fiancee so she can print out a copy copies for SLEC to complete the medical.

Receiving that email means you case file has been shipped (or scheduled to ship).   Now watch CEAC status when it shows READY is when you can schedule the interview.

As for your friend completing the K-1 also, have them email NVC to request the case file # (MNL)   As soon as the case file is shipped they will receive a reply email, if they are slow with contacting NVC and the letter was already mailed to them I am not sure if they will still respond with an email.

Follow the format listed on this page to contact NVC:  http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/nvc-k-1.html

The friend sent an email requesting the MNL# today. Assuming that their case gets shipped out on May 14th and the letter gets mailed out to her fiance in New York City then how long would you expect it the letter to arrive?

If they sent an email request, they should get a reply the same day the visa package is shipped.

They will receive the email with rtf attachment long before any hard copy letter arrives to anyone. Just print out this rtf attachment and use it for the medical. I don't see what the advantage is for performing the medical far in front of the interview. The medical is walk in only and is the easiest part of the process to get done.

All they need to print out is the email with the MNL notated on it ... that will make SLEC happy.
