If you are applying for N400 under 319(b) then you don't have to wait for ROC. VJ has plenty of examples of users who went through this. 319(b) applies to LPR or conditional residents who's spouses employed abroad (whether its military, government, missionary, or US corporations that engaged in the development of foreign trade and commerce of the United States). There are several conditions. You can read it here https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-g-chapter-4

ROC stage can not be "skipped" if one was granted a conditional green card - it's a must to apply for I-751, for conditions to be removed.

But N-400 can be submitted, if/when eligiblity is met, while I-751 is still pending - in these cases a "combo" interview often happens, to adjust both, N,-400 and ROC.

Not true.

2. Conditional Residents Filing as the Spouse of a U.S. Citizen Employed Abroad

A spouse of a U.S. citizen employed abroad based on authorized employment is not required to have any specific period of residence or physical presence in order to naturalize. [9] Consequently, a CPR spouse is not required to file the petition to remove conditions if the spouse files his or her naturalization application before he or she reaches the 90-day filing period to remove the conditions on residence. [10]

A CPR spouse of a U.S. citizen employed abroad may naturalize without filing a petition to remove conditions if:

  • The CPR spouse has been a CPR for less than one year and nine months; and

  • The CPR spouse does not reach the 90-day filing period for the petition to remove conditions prior to the final adjudication of his or her naturalization application or the time of the Oath of Allegiance. [11]

Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to me because I've already reached the 90-day filing period so, as you mentioned, I'll have to submit for ROC and hopefully will have a combo interview. If I only knew about 319(b) earlier...

I wonder why ours doesn't have an estimated case completion time like that one. Ours just has the receipt number, submitted date of May 24, and "you successfully submitted your form". It hasn't changed since May.

Anyone check their estimated completion time recently and saw it go down? Mine just went down to 4 months (from 7 after biometrics were completed). I'm curious if that means they will be sending an interview letter soon since there's progress...

Usually they send the appointment notice for the N400 without mentioning the I-751 and it's a combo. I don't think in your case it will be a combo. But at least they didn't schedule the N 400 before the I-751. I would go prepared for both just in case but I would be surprised if they took care of both.

Got the interview letter posted to account! Aug 27th. Seems like a long time away but I'm glad it's there. A set date to study for. No mention N of the I-751 of course so I will send an email to request a combo appt just in case it got lost in the shuffle. I hope it's a combo so we don't have to wait for another interview spot! If all goes well it will be 3-4 months total for this application process. 👍

Hello everyone,

My estimated waiting time shown in my account has decreased from 7 months to 14 days.  I am not sure if it means that I will get my interview letter in a fortnight (2 weeks).  I am just getting impatient, cause most of applicants in my field office have just got their scheduled interview.  Any fellow applicant who resides in Indianapolis?
