I was just wondering when can my fiancee revisit her country after her visa is approved? What steps need to be taken or is there a special wait until she can be permited to travel outside the US with a U.S. passport?

march 30th NOA1...hopefully 30 more days or so for NOA2 (mid june or end of june I hope!)

Your fiancee cant get a US passport until she becomes a USC. If she does any traveling it will be on her Mexican passport.

She can travel as much as she wants until she enters the US for the first time. Then she needs to stay until she either has AP or her Green Card. She could leave at any time, but she can only get back in with either of those two documents. It takes about 3 months to get AP, after applying for it with AOS. Green card could take 3-24 months, depending if you run into any trouble.

US passport wont be an option until after your furture spouse becomes a US citizen by naturalization several years in the future.

You can apply for AP when you Adjust status after marriage, and perhaps have the AP document in 90 days or so, then you can travel out of country while AOS is pending. Your spouse will continue using their foreign passport.

Your husband may need a visa to enter certain countries where you might be able to travel visa free. Some countries like Canada will allow visa free entry to USC or premenent residents that hold a green card. But without a green card, they may require a visa, depending on the country of citzenship.

By the time you do file to adjust status, you will get EAD and AP as part of the filing, so I suspect that as soon as you get NOA for AOS, the NOA will be AP and EAD.

One thing to keep in mind about I-485 fee, it includes AP, and EAD as part of the $1010

Currently, $395(AOS)+$170(AP)+$180(EAD) so is $765 --> $1010 (AOS+EAD+AP)
