Looking for some insight on this. Young kid mid twenties, goes to school and work, not tons of savings trying to apply for tourist visa. Has a letter of invitation from aunt (a permanent resident) stating that she is assuming all costs. However this kid's mom is in the US undocumented, came with a B2 and overstayed. So my questions are

1. I know we should not lie on any immigration forms so for the DS 160 where  it asks info about parents.. how to proceed with that? Including is your mother in the US ?

2. If honest with his mom in the US, would this jeopardize his visa application as well?

3. If honest, would they dig about the Mom ? or would they focused on his intentions and not his Mom's situation? ... at the end its his application not his mama.

Please not judgements, we all know some undocumented people for once in our lives.

Thanks for your help!

For tourist visa, it is based on merit of the applicant. So your aunt should not do anything.

(1) Yes. They probably already knew about it.

(2) Potentially: yes but lie will probably result a ban (or permanent ban)

(3) They may ask a few questions but as I mentioned above, they know, they just have not put effort (yet) to deport her. US has millions of illegal immigrates so it may not be her turn yet.

You have to disclose immediate family, so have to disclose mother's address and US status. Not directly, but could possibly affect your visa. In the CO's mind, what's preventing you from doing the same as the mom.

1. Answer truthfully

2. Maybe, but as already pointed out, getting caught in a lie will not only lead to certain denial but could also lead to a lifetime ban

3. If you mean will they search her out and deport her, unlikely. Expect sharp questions about your intent in visiting her.

I agree with ElDiablo.  He has about a 0% chance of being approved.  Unless he's the Mark Zuckerberg of Colombia then it will be denied.  Also, never lie because they already know the answers to the questions they are asking. It is a test to see if you lie, in which case you will be banned.
