Argentina for example used to be a VWP country, not now and unlikely to ever be one.

Off the top of my head, Russia, Ukraine, Eastern Europe... if the men like gold chains and track suits, and the women smoke more than the men, they're on the list. Nice use of Latin, though that's kind of my bag around here, just a heads up. I will fight you for it. I completely agree that this is a place where most people are wearing their relaxed fit trousers and yoga pants, some soiled, some not. One of the many joys of VJ is to pass judgment on each other.

 

Interesting grab bag of countries, some I agree with, some not. I wouldn't characterize Western and Westernized countries as necessitating wariness -- it would depend on the particular beneficiary in question. Having been burnt by two of your like, I can say I have sworn off your country completely as unsuitable for my own self (I am flying domestic this time, far more suitable), though to be fair I wouldn't characterize either as having fraudulent intent in marrying me. I am just not temperamentally suited to be married to an Englishman (so you are safe from me). Both of mine were bossy and completely ineffectual at assisting in holding up their end of the domestic workload, as well as having a cavalier attitude as to my emotional and mental well-being. One a mama's boy, and the other flighty and unstable. You and other Englishmen of course may be different -- horses for courses, eh? I may have ended up with two of the bad ones, but I wouldn't write off the country as a whole as having a bunch of emotionally stunted and selfish men, deserving of wariness.

I would agree with your policy to stay away from English men. Assuming you've mostly been fishing for a gentleman of some status, stoic men (some stereotypes are true, alas) don't seem your type. I like to think I've broken that mold, but unfortunately dear Maven there is only one of me. 😉

 

There are of course bad apples in western countries, but if you're rooting around in Moscow or Manila, your odds of landing a scammer go up substantially. And honestly, don't get me started on these men who could be my father or grandfather, shopping around for some bride who could be their daughter. Dear God man, do you really think that pretty little Asian girl wants to cuddle up to your wrinkly almost-corpse every night? I digress.

Neither of my exes could be classified as stoic, though my current non-fiance is perhaps excessively so. Thanks for the assessment of my current husband-hunting requirements, though (I think).

 

As for your second paragraph, I think you may have touched the no-no spot on VJ's vile body, so I do hope you're prepared for a weekend of people calling you out. Cancel your plans, if you have any.

Plenty of younger Asian ladies in the US, and that does not seem common. So something else is a factor. They head for PI not LA.

I would always hope love is a factor when people marry, of course it's really not anyone's business if the couple is happy or not.

My only issue with the Welsh ladies is I can't bloody understand them! 😂 And this from a man who has an ear for the Scottish brogue, or at least as far as Aberdeen. Further north than that, and forget it.
