Question about the Visa?

Can someone follow up with me this, My Mother in Law granted IR5 visa in Chennai last Wednesday and it’s been about a week and still we haven’t received the Visa yet? Does anyone know how long before she will have the visa in hand. She already booked the plane to ticket to go to U.S.A next week? I’m very curious if she’s able to get the visa before next week. Lately I heard it two different people saying they send visa’s to home other person said they will send to the local office and then you go pick up. Does anyone has any idea please help me. Really appreciated any help.

I was impressed that Chennai sent our visa (through DHL courier) within 2 working days after the interview. Really it may be different in all cases. Maybe you should email the Embassy to inquire if the visa has not arrived so far, they are good about answering emails. ChennaiIVU@state.gov and ChennaiIV@state.gov, be sure to give all info like name, birth date, case number, interview date etc.

Plane tickets should actually not be booked till the visa is in hand, because there is no way of telling what delay may come up. Good luck!

binu i think u r mom in law must have received the passport with the visa

or u may consult your consulate or the vfs office
