i think its a wonderful idea!!! I am definitely going to do the same inshAllah whenever my husband gets approved and is on his way to coming here...I mean we had our official wedding in Egypt (We are both egyptian but I am the US citizen...lol)..so that is where most of our family and relatives lived...but I want my friends and family here, people I work with, my colleagues, neighbors etc to meet him and not just say WHOA where did he come from?? looooool... I am thinking a small reception...maybe rent out a hotel reception room or something...and the gift issue...well...you could make a registry and maybe just include it in the invitation...or if you send out something like evite...include the link on the bottom...that way no one feels obliged to get anything...but hopefully everyone will shower you with gifts!! take care and keep in touch!! Always good to find a fellow VJer going through the same embassy...oh Egypt..
