DCF Response?

I filed the i30 petition for visa and got a confirmation from the post office stating the consulate in Rome received it on the 24th of April. Will I hear back via email that they are processing the request? Or is the only email I will receive now whether or not it was approved. I called USCIS and asked about my file and she said that have not started the process yet.

You will receive an email once it is approved. After that another email once the case number is assigned.

In my case, I am doing the DCF in Thailand. After filing the I-130 and paying the fee, we heard nothing at all for a little over two months. Then she got a letter in the mail (that was actually given to someone else because they "knew" her... and was lost for a week on top of it. I wasn't a happy camper, lol). In that letter, it stated that her application was approved and provided her her case number, in addition there was a link that directed her to a page for the packet 3 instructions. For us, that was the next step. We are almost ready to file that, just waiting for my tax transcript to be delivered. I strongly suggest you start gathering all the paperwork you need now, I think it is pretty much standard for most DCF cases, if you have everything, your stress level will greatly be reduced.
