Hi there hoping someone can answer some questions I have around timing of processing at the NVC for an F3 visa

Priority Date Nov 30 2006

Me, my husband and 2 young daughters are from Canada and our petitioner is my father-in-law who is a US Citizen.

Once asked by the NVC we submitted ALL documents and D-260 for all 4 of us including my father in laws info. Paid all fees. And have been waiting with no update from NVC for 6 months now.

When we log in to the NVC site our case is still not complete. We have emailed the NVC 2x now since and all they say is they received our documents etc and are reviewing them and will let us know when they are done.

My questions are:
• Is it normal to take 6+ months for them to finish reviewing?

• Does the NVC send a letter when they finish reviewing or well they just send the interview date letter next?

• Does our final action priority date have to be current before they say our case is reviewed and completed or should we hear from them before this?

Our priority date should become current in the next month or two and I'm concerned that they are still reviewing our case. Anyone else's take this long?

If anyone has any experience with this part of the process and knows if this is normal or what I should expect as far as updates from the NVC I would really appreciate it.

They start gathering documents well in advance of the PD.  Once you submit everything,  it waits until your PD is current and then they complete the file and schedule the interview

YMMV

Ok so I shouldn't expect it to be completed or get a letter from NVC saying we are documentaly qualified intil my PD is current?

From what I've read there is a letter you get when they complete reviewing your documents that says your case review is completed and they will let you know when your interview has been scheduled. Then when your PD is current they send your file to the consulate and schedule your interview. So that's why I was expecting at least something telling us they reviewed everything by now.

Something is off with your case. You should receive a case complete email when NVC has reviewed your docs. All this happens (normally) before your PD becomes current. Once current, they send the interview letter.

That's the thing. They said they are still reviewing it. We asked if anything is delaying it. They just say they received everything and are reviewing it. Last they said that was about a week ago. Not sure what could be wrong? We're a straight forward case. Everything required was filled out and sent. All fees paid. Not sure what to do.

Have you spoken to NVC on the phone, you should definitely ask for a supervisor and escalate the matter.
