Hi, peeps! Greetings from Berkeley, CA! I'm currently about to get married (😍) and so my soon-to-be-husband and I are about to file the AOS, EAD and the AP, but we have a couple of questions you guys might be able to answer.

1) Where do we get our DS-3025 vaccination report? Is it in THE ENVELOPE? Ours wasn't opened at the border.

2) When we apply for AOS, EAD and AP, do we submit one packet containing everything all clipped together? Or do we submit 3 different packets in one envelope? There are certain forms that are replicated, I assume we need to print them multiple times and include them multiple times?

3) Does anyone have a sample cover letter they could share?

Thanks so much for your help!

Dani

Hey there! Congratulations!

Welcome to the AOS process,  hopefully is not going to be painful for you!

The DS 3025 is a two pages form with your vaccination record. The embassy doctor should have given you a copy of it and then put another one in the sealed envelope.
You have to send the package all together but divide the inside between AOS-EAD-AP. Is normal to have things repeated.
I don’t have the cover letter file with me but I just put my name and started naming all the files in order, like an Indice

1) My wife gave the envelope to the officer at the port of entry in dallas. The only thing she kept was a two page form with her vaccines. Because of this we weren't sure if it was valid or not so we went ahead and got her medical done again here in the United States. Don't worry about this too much though because you can file the medical later and they will attach it to your case. Or you can just get the medical done a few weeks before your AOS interview. From our experience, we mailed the medical 3 weeks after we filed for AOS, and last week in our interview the officer had our medical paperwork in the case.

2) We submitted one packet with AOS and EAD. We bought one of those Folder Organizers in amazon that allows to categorize things very easily and at the same time keep your paperwork safe and closed.

3) Our cover letter looked like the one @Fla&Mark described. I can't remember if USCIS has in their site an itemized list already of what is required for AOS, EAD and AP.

Feel free to ask what ever comes to your mind in this forum. We are here to help in the best possible way.

Thank you! We are finally finishing this process. We started gathering the paperwork for the interview on March 12.
Congrats on the GC! I know your wife is an architect, I’m one too. Let her know I’m open to talk. We can help each other in this journey of looking for a job haha

I will tell her about it!. She's actually going back now in march to do the oath and get her diploma and transcript and everything translated. We were told that the process of equating the degree can be either done through one of the universities or the national board of architects. Not sure in what stage you are with your paperwork but I'd love to read your experience with it. I know she will start getting tense about the situation because the paperwork seems a bit overwhelming so knowing about your case and your experience will probably help her.

Welcome! So exciting to finally be together huh?

For our cover letters, we did it similar to the I-129F but specifically listed our eligibility category and the fact we're filing concurrently (all 3 together). Here is the template for ours for the I-485 (you can change it for I-765/I-131 depending on the contents):

[APPLICANT NAME AND ADDRESS]

United States Department of Homeland Security

USCIS Chicago Lockbox

P.O. Box 805887 Chicago, IL 60680

[DATE], 2020

Nature of Submission: I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

ORIGINAL SUBMISSION

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am applying to adjust status in the family-based category as a person admitted to the United States as a fiancé of a U.S. citizen on a K1 visa. I entered at [POE] on [DATE] and married my I-129F petitioner, [PETITIONER NAME], on [DATE].

Enclosed please find my completed Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, and all supporting documents. I am filing Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization and Form I-131, Application for Travel Document concurrently as an Adjustment Applicant under Section 245 (c)(9).

Contents in order include:

  • Payment in the amount of $1225

  • 2 passport photos

  • Form G-1145, e-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

  • Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

    • Employment verification letter

    • Pay statements (last 6 months)

  • Form DS-3025, Vaccination Documentation

Copies of submitted documents are exact photocopies of unaltered documents and I understand that I may be required to submit the original documents to an Immigration or Consular Officer at a later date.

Sincerely,

[APPLICANT NAME AND SIGNATURE]

We divided our I-485 packet into sections with tabs (since it was alot!), binder clipped it, then binder clipped I-765/I-131 separately. Used a huge binder clip to clip them all together and put everything into a manila envelope with his name, A#, address and contact info on it before putting into USPS envelope.

Good luck!!

Good for her that she can go to the oath. Mine was in October and wasn’t able to go back.
I actually did everything in the US through a company call WES. They translate the grades and years to US credits.  I’m waiting for the validation still but the process was faster and not that expensive.
In Argentina the information I got was you have to go to the Colegio of Escribanos and then Colegio de Traductores and at least takes you a two months.

Hey all...  so we got hit with the Birth Certificate RFE as well. We provided the Acta de Nacimiento with the certification from Registro Civil and Apostille document as well (4 pages total: Page 1 is the digital copy of the Acta; Page 2 is the Additional Signature's Page; Page 3 is the Record Certificate Delivered; Page 4 is Apostille).

Our RFE is 3 pages long, asking for us to submit a copy of the birth certificate (which we did, with the English translation we got done by "Day Translation" online service.)

They included a 3rd print out with this information (that you can also find on the travel.gov website). They highlighted two areas on this third page (red, bold below). Looking through all of the pages, I don't see anything that officially reads verbatim "es copia fiel del original" on these 4 pages. The 3rd page with the stamps, blue validation stick, etc. only reads "CERTIFICO que el presente documento es copia fiel de las constancias obrantes en el módulo Registro Civil Electrónico del Sistema de Administración de Documentos Electrónicos del Gobierno......"

I can't imagine that the slight language change of "del original" versus the long form translation of this saying this true proof of the document found in the Civil Registry would result in USCIS not accepting the Acta.

@andreaam @Fe.Ta We were just going to send a copy (again) of the Acta we have and the translation. Any other advice on things to add? Was the Acta/certification language similar for your's?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Fees: No fee is required unless the certificate is requested by a judicial authority.

Document Name: Acta de Nacimiento.

Issuing Authority: Civil Registry (Registro Civil) of the municipality or rural area in which the birth occurred.

Special Seal(s) / Color / Format: Birth certificates have no security features as they are a copy of the book where they are registered.  Each copy must have a blue or black stamp with a legend stating “es copia fiel del original”.

Issuing Authority Personnel Title: Must contain stamp and signature of the registry’s authority.

Registration Criteria: There are no registration criteria.

Procedure for Obtaining: Procedures vary depending on the province/ registry from which it must be obtained.

Alternate Documents: There are no alternate documents.

Comments: There are two types of birth records.  The "Acta de Nacimiento" is the official birth entry and should be used in place of the "Certificado de Nacimiento." These are obtained from the Civil Registry (Registro Civil) of the municipality or rural area in which the birth occurred.  If documentation of the birth is not available, the National Civil Registry (RENAPER) will issue a lettercalled “Certificación de datos

Ugh we keep getting this RFE!! I don’t understand! Mine was similar as yours, just little changes but the same about copia fiel. I sent the same again and was accepted (4 months later because they lost our entire case, but that’s another story).
Remember to add the translation certificate letter from the company that did the translation. If it is notarized the better. I did the translation myself and then notarized it with a lawyer. I wasn’t expensive and I did it just in case it was that the problem.

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Thank you so much! The certificate from the company (online service) isn't notarized, but it's signed and I'll make sure to include it this time if we didn't in the original filing.

We are going to get everything in the mail tomorrow. We really appreciate your quick response, advice and encouragement ❤️ Means so much to have such a wonderful group that just helps put some of the fears of "what if's" at bay!!
