  1. Joint Account: Create a joint account as soon as you are married, so it'll show both names and address, as well as proof of all the marriage spendings, rent, etc. You need your SSN# and marriage certificate to get one, also as soon as you get an account, the better to get credit.
  2. Creditcard and personal account for beneficiary: You need to have a service under your name and SSN# to have one. Also do it as soon as possible, so you start gaining credit points.
  3. Lease or mortgage: you'll need proof of adress, so after marriage, ssn#, and accounts, both names of spouses should be in the lease or mortgage. Also must have services under both of you, showing same adress and congratulatory letters to both spouses to the same home adress

OK, so, I wanted to get clarification on something.  How critical are these highlighted items before we submit AOS?  We have joint accounts that were just created last week, so there is not much spending on those.  We do not pay rent, etc.  I own the house because it was an inheritance and, therefore, it will not be under both of our names.  Additionally, the bank told us we need to wait at least a month before a credit card will be issued to him.  So, thoughts?  Are these critical?

They are not critical. They help. If you don’t have them now you can take them to the interview.

And also there are more ways of showing a life together. Such as being under the same health insurance, utility bills, car insurance, phone bill, etc

Thanks!  That's what I figured.  He is already in my healthy insurance and HSA account.  Plus, we are getting the cellphones together and the cable/internet.  Thanks for your input as always!

Are there any factors or things that we can include in the AOS that would decrease the chances of an interview or is this arbitrary?

I feel like as long as you say the truth about not belonging in the nazi party and haven't been a prostitute then you should be fine lol. I remember having those questions in my green card interview xD.

Hahaha so true!  My husband laughed about the one on the DS-160 for P3 about the Colombian "guerrilla" and he said, "I don't even know any Colombians". 😄

@Javier Mera So, my husband can’t get his MMR vaccine for another month. Can we still file the AOS?

I’ve been checking the last two months GC approvals in VJ timelines and I can say that 99% of them had the interview. So my conclusion is that right now (maybe because of all the immigrants issues in US right now) most of the cases need to have the interview for approval.

Anyway, you never now. This whole process is crazy an unknown sometimes that have to expect for everything.

You can submit AOS without it. You can expect an RFE later or I’ve read also that they can ask you to complete you medical exam for the GC interview

So, would it be best to wait until September 20th to get his final vaccines and then submit AOS ASAP? His 90-day visa expires on September 24th. But, since we are already married and he has SSN, we are OK if USCIS does not receive it until after September 24th, correct?

I submitted AOs without i693. We filed the medical examination last week and our AOs was approved without it.

I meant to say earlier that we got our NOA1 for AOS without sending the I-693 with it. The website says that you can either include it, mail it later or directly take it to the interview. The benefit of doing it now in my opinion is that is not flu season so your husband for example won't have to get the flu shot if you guys get the medical and file within the 30 days of the validity of the MMR.

If I were you to speed things up, I would file for AOS as soon as you can and then next month get the medical examination and file it.

Thanks!  We are thinking of doing the AOS as soon as possible with the vaccines that he does have.  Then, possibly include a letter indicating the remaining will be done within the next 30 days and then contact them to see how we can mail then separately at the time.  We think that would help us out.

Sounds reasonable. What we did was to attach a sheet in the format of the cover letter but mentioned that we were filing the medical examination to go along with the i485 filed by my wife (you would mentioned your husband's name in your case) and add the receipt number from the noa1 once you have it. That way it may help to let them know you already have the case accepted and begun processing.

That works perfectly.  Thanks!
