Hi,just finished talking to nvc, they told me they haven’t sent my case yet because the embassy isn’t accepting more visas !,  I guess I got  DQ late 16/8 , not sure if there’s more new  interviews at the embassy   For late sept or oct

Has anyone one ever had luck getting through to the embassy?

Nope ,I called but never found the option to take to someone, just general info by a recording

Ok, I just got through calling this number 54-1159841910. They said they were "mostly" processing emergency visas (work, school, medical emergencies)  and that I should wait to hear from the NVC. Doesn't sound great but maybe if you call and get someone else you'll get more info.

Thanks ,is it direct or do you press some option, I want to know if the embassy isn’t accepting certain cases or nvc isn’t sending my case

Update: I sent an email inquiring about whether they are scheduling spousal visa interviews to the embassy yesterday and got this response last night:

"Dear Madam,

The U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires suspended routine visa services as the coronavirus pandemic unfolded. In accordance with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, as well as local rules and guidance, we are doing our part to fight the pandemic by social distancing and practicing good hygiene and cleaning standards. We continue to operate with limited staff and limited capacity to provide face-to-face consular services. Regretfully, at this time, we must limit processing immigrant and fiancé (K) visa cases to those deemed emergencies and not subject to Presidential Proclamation 10014.

Applicants are encouraged to monitor the U.S. Embassy website and associated social media for operational updates."

This is the exact same notice they have had on their website for a long time. Given that child and spousal visas are an exception to to the proclamation, I hope that it means they are planning to schedule more interviews soon.😣

Hi guys, I know you're all concerned about your embassy visa interview, or some others already have a date preparing for it. Either case, it's very important you check this "Public Charge Rule" that will apply as soon as you arrive, get married and apply to Adjust Status (Green Card application).

Knowing this in advance will help you create a strategy to adapt as fast as possible and eliminate red flags 🚩 to decrease the risk of losing the chance to get a GC.

Does this mean that they're going to ask for more evidence about our spouses income once we ask for the green card?

No, the proofs for AOS will be the same, but for example if your English is not good, it'll be better start practicing, if you get married don't get in debt, you must have good credit score, try to have a private health insurance or if your spouse can add you into his/her health insurance will be fine, as soon as you get your work permit, try your best to find a job that pays over the poverty line (I'm in NYC and it's pretty hard to find a job, I got one In mid July and lost it after 4 weeks because the coffee store couldn't make it through the pandemic, and it took 6 months to find). Now I'm still looking for one, trying to eliminate the possibility to have a GC Denied because they may think I could become a public charge in the near future.

If your future spouse already earns over the poverty line, and has a stable job, that will also help you a lot if you can't find a job in the US.

This is the latest update about this public charge rule. I recommend you to read all the red flags, check if any may apply or could apply to you when you get to the US, so you can prepare a solid Adjustment of Status case.

I think there is currently an injunction on this: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/update-on-public-charge.html

Yes, the court in NY wants to try to block the public charge rule again as they did in February 2020. For now it's effective again, still don't know for how long, as if Baiden wins the election this Public Charge Rule may not apply. Good news for all of guys is you have the chance to plan way ahead not to be affected by it in a negative way.

If I get to know any updates about this will let yall know. Let's keep it up!

To clarify for all, there is currently an injunction, so the Public Charge Rule is NOT enforceable by the Department of State (which covers all of us doing the process outside of the country).

This means that-- at least as long as there is an injunction-- they should not ask you for the DS 5540 at the visa interview. My husband just had his interview, and they did not ask him for this form. Another person on here also just had their interview and similarly was not asked for the form.

It is confusing because there were 2 injunctions issued against the Public Charge Rule (back in July, I think). One of them was successfully successfully appealed (so the Public Charge Rule went back into effect for those doing their processes WITHIN the US). But the injunction against the Dept of State is still active, per the Dept of State's website (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/update-on-public-charge.html

That's the exact same thing they replied to me 48hs before my interview, haha. They emailed me first, even! I just replied.

So I wouldn't worry too too much about them having stopped suddenly, since now they also began processing some student visas, and lottery visas (I think?), unlike before that they were only processing CR/IR ones. Also, they cannot schedule too many people on the same day because of the pandemic. So all of this must have made them take a little longer to assign interviews.

I hope you guys get some good news and an appointment super soon 🙏
