@goursh

I think @Fer Schvarztman was saying that you can find de P3 instructions on the embassy website if you want to start gathering documents. That's why the instructions are there too, to inform what is coming next.

From your message I can see you have all that done. Good for you! You don't have to rush to get everything ready.

You should wait to hear from them because they review every case before sending the P3 instructions. If you want to make the appointment for the interview now, is your call.

I'm the one who created this thread and I've been gathering information since a year ago. What we write here is from experience.

When I went to my interview, a guy was waiting with me, also doing a K1, and he didn't wait for the email for the embassy and sent the P3 packet and scheduled the interview. A week before the interview, he got an email saying he had to re schedule his interview because they hadn't reviewed his case from USCIS not even his Packet 3.

Then there was another girl in this thread that didn't wait either and everything went fine for her luckily.

I know your feeling, you want to be done already, you want to be with you loved one, but you guys are really close.

Keep emailing them until you get an answer about what is going on. Is better to be safe than sorry in this cases

(this is my personal opinion since we started the inmigration process on July 2018)

As @andreaam said all of these posts come from personal opinions and experiences we all have had, which are different from one another.  You can start working on some things such as photos, proof, etc., but (I personally) wait for the actual emailed P3 instructions as some of them could change from the last person who posted here to the next.  @andyazcu and I had minor differences in P3, so it was smart that she waited to confirm everything prior to finalizing P3.  If you already have everything that is perfectly fine, but I would review everything again and make sure dates are good and current with the final P3 instructions that you do receive from the embassy when the time finally comes AND before you mail it and/or delivery it to the embassy in Argentina, just to be safe.

@andreaam and @Fer Schvarztman, I cannot understand if you agree or disagree with eachother. What is the point of finding P3 instructions on the website if we must wait to hear from them? I have P3 all finished, as well as DS-160, and God only knows how long it'll take before we finally hear from the Embassy...

Just like @andreaam said, I didn't wait for the Embassy to send me the P3 instructions because I knew I needed time to prepair all the evidence, translations and legal docs.

Then I did the medical exam and after that I fill out DS160 and paid to be able to schedule the interview appointment (needed to contact them to open new dates because the system was not showing any).

This is how I proceed, I'm not saying there is one way to do this, hope this clarify your doubt and sorry if I confused you.

Hey everyone,  @goursh  Maybe if you e-mail the Embassy and explain your situation, they can make an exception? Sometimes they are very vague in their answers, but you can always try.

I e-mailed them asking when they were going to open new spots for interviews, (because there was nothing available) And they told me by the end of the month. Now  I see there is one open for February 13th, but it too soon to get everything ready.  I don't want to get my medical exam done without having an interview date set beforehand.

Also they told me if I wanted to get an interview in march I have to check by the end of february, which makes no sense. Because then by the end of this month they should be opening spots for february, but february is already booked? So, what dates are they going to open by the end of this month? I'm losing my mind here haha.

Does anybody know how this work please? @Fe.Ta @andreaam @Fer Schvarztman

They are not really "booked".  It seems they just release dates and times a few at a time, like in batches, which is why you have to check the website every day.  Now, I would say to email them again once you do have everything ready.  Once the P3 is completed, then you can email them and book whatever they do make available then.  Even if it is too soon, if your P3 is ready, then contact Dra. Grillo, who usually gives you spots within 24-48 hours of writing her through Whatsapp, so that would take care of your medical.  Does that make sense?

 @Fe.Ta ah ok! thank you!

You are SO welcome! :)   Please keep all of us updated.  Another thing to note is that the P3 must arrive or be physically delivered to the embassy at least 10 business days prior to the interview, so you must take into account holidays, government closures, etc. when planning.  If for whatever reason, you cut it too short, then my recommendation would be to email them letting them know it arrived a little later and closer to the interview and (if possible) give them a reasonable explanation as to why.  That is what we did because that is what happened with ours.  I (USC) had to mail the entire packet to my husband and we were about 8-9 days instead of 10.  So, I emailed the embassy apologizing and gave them the reasons why.  However, we had true excuses that were out of our control and not lack of preparation or being procrastinators.  Thus, make sure you keep all of those factors in mind when you are communicating with the embassy.  Don't forget, you are trying to impress them.

Si, @Fe.Ta  I thought about that too:)  When I sent an e-mail asking about dates in March I explained we were still working on the P3. like we are trying to be as prepared as we can, but they didn't really care haha. Also, I'm writing my e-mails in Spanish and maybe they prefer English?

The thing is I still have to get my medical exam and police record, but I'm waiting for the interview date, to get those done. the rest I have it.

But my fiance is kinda lost about his paperwork, the evidence of support because he was self employed till October, and then he started a new job in January, so he is kinda confused regarding what he needs to present. And I can't help him, because I have no idea. So I just shared with him what I found in this thread about that.

So I can't submit p3  till he actually mails me his paperwork 😓

He doesn't want to rush it, but it's kinda taking forever.

Yeah, they don't tend to be as responsive, but it is good to still put your best foot forward.  I don't think it matters.  I believe I wrote them in both languages and it was fine either way.

Here is the official USCIS instructions for the I-134

From what I know (please note I am no expert and I was not self-employed), the things are basically the same:

IRS tax returns (some people say three years others say the latest ones)

W2s, but in his case it would be 1099s  (some people say three years others say the latest ones)

Letter from employer with details of employment

Bank statements (usually 6 months or so, but definitely your call if you want to include more, especially since he was self-employed)

Pay stubs

Assets

**I may or may not be missing some details on this, so feel free to search more or someone else can jump in.**

Now, here are some recommendations I would make given his situation:

  • Do the tax returns for 2019 as soon as possible so he can have the latest IRS tax returns (he can also include previous years if he wants, but since it is already tax season, why not?)
  • As many 1099s as he can from 2019
  • Since he does not have an employer from 2019, then provide as many contracts within the last three months of self-employment (August-October?) NOTE:  I got this from researching the Internet to show how active his self-employment was.
  • A full year of bank statements (and any statements that would proof assets to meet requirements)
  • Letter from the bank on letterhead stating:
    • When account was opened
    • The total amount deposited in the entire year of 2019
    • Present balance of the account
  • As many other assets as he can list and proof
  • I would also wait until March to have at least 3 stubs from the new employer, which would proof new income and such
  • Ask current employer in March for a letter of employment including several details:
    • His Name
    • Position
    • Start Date
    • Current Employment Status (especially the word PERMANENT and FULL-TIME)
    • Annual Income Expected
    • Itemized Benefits (if applicable)
  • A letter from your petitioner explaining the why he was unemployed during the end of his self-employment (October) and his current employment (January)

Again, these are just suggestions and I am being extremely thorough, plus no matter how prepare you are, you never know how much more they could ask for.  But, it is worth having as much of that on the front end.

You should get a confirmation that they did receive P3 before the interview. Try emailing them again. If approved, the next packet is actually the sealed one they give you when they give you your passport with the visa a few weeks or so after the interview. You keep that and give it at POE.

Hi everyone!

Quick question...my fiancee's interview is scheduled for Jan 30th and it looks like we have everything ready to go. Huzzah! I'm just curious if she has to bring new passport photos with her. Or are the ones she sent with the P3 enough? Thanks in advance!

Whatever passport pictures were in P3 is fine.

I was in a similar situation with the I-134. I was self employed most of 2018 then was hired full time in January 2019. They want to see proof of employment and income for the past 3 years, so I submitted:

  • Employment verification letter on company letterhead from my current company (where I work full-time now) with salary, start date, and that I am in good standing. Signed by HR. He can ask for this, it's pretty standard and they should know what he needs.
  • 2018/2017/2016 tax TRANSCRIPTS not returns (he can get this on the IRS website, just download it). This showed all my past 3 years income plus my self-employment income and all taxes I paid for each.
  • I also submitted my 1099s from self employment to further illustrate my income and provide evidence of self employment. They are a bit stricter with self employed so I just wanted to be safe.
  • Last 6 months pay stubs from my full time job, then another 6 months of invoices/checks made out to me via self employment.

Self employed is tricky but just give them as much evidence as you can and you should be fine :)
