Hi! We just got an email after submitting our Packet 3 that I need to attach my tax transcript. I had attached my tax return. I keep trying to request my transcript online here and it says my information is not correct, even though I'm typing in exactly what is on my tax return. This is the link they sent me to to request my transcript: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript Reading through the common errors, it sounds like it might not be possible to make an account for this with an international address. Has anyone been able to request their tax transcript online while living in BA with a foreign address on your tax return?

The embassy also told us that my fiancé misspelled his mom's name on his DS-260 and that that needed to be updated. The Packet instructions clearly state DS 160 not 260, so we're emailing back for confirmation.

Also, as an aside, here's reminder that the Packet 3 is due 10-15 days before the interview. We didn't realize this at all and got an email from the embassy this morning asking where our Packet was. We were able to drop it off today (his interview is Monday...) and they reviewed it and emailed us about the tax transcript immediately but it was super stressful and we may not have time to get my tax transcript. Ugh.

In the first post I made in this thread I think I said that you needed to deliver the packet  before the interview. Anyway you did it in time!

About the IRS transcript, we didn’t present them. We included full tac returns of the past 3 years, pay stubs and bank statements last 6 months

For some reason we thought it was like 2 days before instead of 10-15 days -- no idea where that number came from! 😂

Okay, that's good to know! I will offer to include all of those things instead when I explain the problems I'm having with the download. They specifically requested it, though, maybe because I'm self-employed.

Yes, for the sake of refreshing it and having a recent post, the packet must be at least 10 business days before the interview.  We were close, but we made sure we contacted the embassy so they knew why we cut it short.  As a rule, if you are going to be short of the 10 days, better ask and email them, at least they are aware.

Hi everyone! My fiancé just had his interview and was officially approved!!!! We will be picking up his visa in a week.

I thought I'd share a bit about the experience in case it's helpful for anyone.

I went with him to the embassy. The appointment was at 10:30 but we went in around 10:00. They let me enter and we waited for maybe 20 minutes before they called him to drop off the documents in the green packet. I went into the room with him for that. We brought additional financial evidence for me (2016 and 2017 tax returns, bank statements) because I wasn't able to get my tax transcript as well as the save the date we sent out and our contract with our wedding coordinator. We also gave them the original tickets for all of our travel evidence. They kept these.

They probably called him for his interview around 12:15 - it was so nice to be together since we were both nervous and it's hard to distract yourself with no phone! I went up to the door and the interviewer said just him so I sat and waited. The interview lasted about 15 minutes. They asked him how long we've been together, where we met, what are our wedding plans, how he intends to make a living, what I do for a living. He said the interviewer was nice. They told him he was approved and that he'd get his visa in a week.

We are SO relieved and so thankful for this wonderful forum and all of your help!! If anyone has any questions, please let us know and we'll try to help based off our experience! 😁

We won't be leaving until February 1st so we can calmly enjoy the last few weeks we have in BA together!!!

As a reminder, don't forget that due to the changes made in October (or September?), the requirements for AOS are now different for you and @danilich33 versus those of us that submitted it before that.  So, it would be helpful if you could please post those new requirements to others so we keep the thread as updated as possible.  But, feel free to ask questions as you need! :)

Yes, for those who are unaware, basically they are trying to make the immigrant prove "self-sufficiency" with a new form: I-944...kind of like an I-864/financial form but for the immigrant. They are checking to make sure you won't become a public charge if given a green card. Details here: https://www.uscis.gov/legal-resources/final-rule-public-charge-ground-inadmissibility

It was supposed to go into effect on Oct 15, 2019. However.....

Currently the new ruling to require Form I-944 for all AOS applicants is delayed (blocked by state governments) so we are still good to use the latest forms from USCIS (I-485/I-864). They posted the alert below (attached) on USCIS website. You can't even download the I-944 form anywhere, it doesn't exist (yet).

So, hoping it stays delayed when we file in February. Seems like a huge headache and completely unnecessary especially for K1s since the petitioner proves financial accountability and responsibility on the I-864 🙄.

Will keep you guys posted!!

@Fe.Ta thanks for that! I haven't started digging into much of the AOS stuff yet so I actually didn't know about that. One step at a time...
