SSN  comes from SSA not uscis

I know this. ^_^ However I assumed it would be mailed around the same time as the EAD card considering I checked that block on the paperwork. Maybe it will arrive later? I don’t have time to go to the SSO before the interivew on Friday any way. So we will see ^_^

EAD card In hand. ^_^ received 4 days prior to interview date. Was delivered in a priority mail envelope. Only received the EAD card. Did not receive SSN card. Although i checked the block to receive one.. any way. Finally happy to have something in hand that isn’t expired and shows my married name ^_^

Wohoo! I am so happy for you fellow Georgian! Now my question is, if you have not gotten the EAD combo:

1. Are you allowed to travel with only your GC? Is there not a need for AP anymore?

2. Still with EAD combo, if GC came first, do you have to wait for USCIS to issue your EAD or just go straight to SSA and apply for your SSN?

For people who would like to contribute your experiences, feel free to provide your answers too. 🙂

EAD and AP are interim benefits only and become obsolete upon issuance of green card

YMMV

Once you have greencard you no longer need EAD/AP for work or travel. They are only used while you’re pending your greencard interview/ card I hand. If greencard comes first usually they will cancel the EAD if it hasn’t been mailed yet. It is is still mailed it is nothing more than an extra ID. But you wouldn’t use it for travel or work.

RFE came quick thankfully.

Turned out they wanted evidence that she is not subject to 212(e): Two year residency requirement.

Yeah, the officer completely overlooked her two visa copies I submitted that each said "BEARER IS  NOT SUBJECT TO SECTION 212(E)".  As well as her DS-2019.  🙄

Guess I'll just resend those copies with the cover letter and highlighter marking the areas.

So I just saw that they changed my EAD status to Approved on Friday. My AP says now "Expedite Request Received" even though I never sent anything like that. I guess they do that themselves once they approved the EAD?

How long does it usually take to get the card from the approval?

Argh! On Friday I got a case update that said my EAD had been approved and my card was in production, which I was obviously excited about. However, today it's changed to say fingerprint review completed. Clearly Friday's update was an error, and I'm feeling massively disappointed now. Just when I thought I might be able to get out there and start working...grr!

Did the interviewing officer tell you that s/he will recommend your application for approval at the end of the interview? Or were you told that they will review the case and mail you a letter with the decision?

Hello, she told me that she was gonna approve my case and after a week the status changed to Approved.
