Did apply SSN separately or you checked the option in your i-485?

We did both. We applied for ssn separately before we got married. But it went through that long verification process.. so we also checked the block on the 485. Back in June I saw the ssn card in my informed delivery... but it never arrived and we’ve had nothing but problems trying to get them to send another one... as for my EAD , the tracker updated today but only says it’s on its way and is between facilities right now. So hopefully it will be delivered tomorrow...

Oh okay. I was just wondering what are the timelines. Just read that EAD has AP too, but what about SSN? Been 124 days since my NOA1 on I-130, and I’m getting anxiety for not being able to work for a long time now.

It looks like we’re bypassing EAD and AP and going straight to green card, our interview is the 29th. 

We chose the option in the EAD application to get a social security number with that. I was wondering, for anyone else who went straight to green card, did you still get your social security number or need to apply for it once the green card was approved?

We also received our interview date before any progress on the EAD/AP. But we’re receiving the card today supposedly and our interview is this fridayFriday

I've heard you can get the translation certified through some online websites and that is acceptable enough to USCIS?  Or do we need to go find some place that would notarize or give me some fancy gold foil stamp?

Extremely annoying to us.  Especially because I have a business trip coming up and we don't have any idea what the RFE entails.  Can I call USCIS and would they tell me over the phone what the RFE is asking for?

My wife translated hers and signed them herself. Just a statement saying she had a working knowledge of both languages.

That is what I did with my Birth Certificate. I just put the proper New York language and signed it.

 

"Pursuant to CPLR Rule 2101(b) regarding translation of documents, I, __________< translated the foregoing document from _______ into English. I do hereby certify that I am competent to translate from ______ into English, and that this document is true, accurate, complete and faithful word-for-word translation of the original document to the best of my knowledge and belief"

Same is gonna happen to me. I applied in June and my interview in on October 30th. 

From what I know if you get the green card before the ead you'll have to apply for ssn.  

 

Also from another group I found out that with the ead you get a restricted ssc so after you get your green card you need to change it.

Thanks!  We had something along these lines and a friend signed it but who knows?  Been hearing that USCIS is not finding a paragraph like that signed by a random person (friend, yourself, etc) acceptable and they want it “certified”.  

 

We got in touch with a USCIS immigration officer but they claim they can’t see what the RFE is for until after two weeks when you can do an e-Request. I’m frustrated because we sent TONS of evidence so I figure they lost something.

 

i delayed my long-term business trip. Don’t feel comfortable leaving while this RFE lingers and we have do way of knowing what they want.  Would a RFE for just a I-485 also delay the EAD and Advanced Travel Parole?

Unfortunately, yes.  They will continue reviewing all your forms after they receive your evidence.

Yea might as well just pay for a certified translation and not stress about it. They usually charge like 20-30 bucks and can do it quickly.

Did the interviewing officer tell you that s/he will recommend your application for approval at the end of the interview? Or were you told that they will review the case and mail you a letter with the decision?

EAD card In hand.  received 4 days prior to interview date. Was delivered in a priority mail envelope. Only received the EAD card. Did not receive SSN card. Although i checked the block to receive one.. any way. Finally happy to have something in hand that isn’t expired and shows my married name

SSN  comes from SSA not uscis
