Ugh my RFE is about birth certificate, we literally sent the birth certificate along with translation. Does anyone have the same situation? Should I call them?

There are more than a few RFEs on birth certificates that were purportedly submitted with the initial packet.  Some fraction of applicants are realizing their initial submissions did not reach the USCIS threshold for acceptance even though they were mistakenly accepted at the visa interview (example - "short form BC" are not supposed to be used).  In other cases it is an honest mistake on the part of USCIS as they did not cross-reference the issuing-authority with the country of origin (example - some countries the only source of BC is the local hospital but USCIS expects a governmental unit).  Another plurality of applicants did not have the translation properly certified.... All you can do is check the "fine print" of the RFE and ensure you are ticking ALL of the boxes... If it's your mistake then fix it, if it's USCIS's mistake then you can resend the materials and educate them with a page from the birth certificate guidelines from the US State Dept.

Ugh I just got off the phone with USCIS and they confirmed my interviews is going to be held in Dallas. The closest office is San Antonio but since the mailing address I use is closer to Dallas, it’s going to be Dallas. Welp... at least he said my case is moving forward surprisingly fast and it might mean that the interview is going to be scheduled soon as well. But we’ll see.. :)

Awww :( but I hope so! That would be awesome. Dallas is still not as slow as Houston from what I hear so it's still good news! Keep us updated!

In other news...I saw in another thread that USCIS has updated their processing times for the EAD on a AOS, it's now 2.5-5 months and if it's after March 2, it's outside of processing times. Not too long ago it said 6-8 months. I'm so excited because we are definitely in that window of time! Come on USCIS, bring on the work authorizations!!!

to check official processing times: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

EAD/AP with an AOS are processed at the National Benefits Center

Thank you for sharing this EXCITING NEWS!!!

With the combo card being processed faster, it surely relieves  a lot of stress from us!!!

Same here! I can't believe how excited I am and it hasn't even been processed yet! I was watching our savings dwindle and starting to stress with how long the wait was predicted. It had more than doubled. So it's nice to know it should go faster than the last prediction!

Hello, I got an RFE for birth certificate, in the original documents I sent my BC provided by my government, but back in the day in my country birth certificates were longer (Legal size) with a bunch of signatures in the back, so USCIS wanted that copy and the translation so I had it translated again and i mailed it back to them yesterday. Check the RFE, it should say there what the issue is with the birth certificate. Good luck!

Wow these are awesome news!! I am honestly ready to wait longer for my greencard as long as I receive my EAD so I could get a drivers license and start looking for a job!

I am also among those people who haven't received their biometrics appointment yet... I hope this wont be an issue and wont prolong the process of getting an EAD

It just might because EAD needs biometrics as well

YMMV

Been having sleepless nights because of the waiting time after my June 17 biometrics. But I’m happy for our fellow filers who already have an interview scheduled! There is hope!

We got an update this morning that RFIE was sent. Anxiously awaiting to see what it is for... I'm guessing something birth certificate-related since it's been the trend...

Morning, we are in the same boat here...

Got all excited when I saw the text saying my case has an update...

What's the thing with birth certificate again? You just need to send in another one?

Hi, I don’t know what is in our RFIE yet... but I’ve noticed a lot of people were either asked to send another copy or it was something related to the translation/certification of translation. I’ll post on here once we received the RFIE in the mail
