Apparently it is possible because it was also my case. I also thought that it was weird. Do you know the reason for the RFIE? In my case was the birth certificate.

I was able to do my biometrics today (received the rescheduled appt letter yesterday and did early walk-in). Have you opened a request with USCIS for your biometrics appt? In my case they sent the letter months ago but I never received (just discovered that recently)... calling them in the past didn't help either because they said no appt was created for me...

They just sent the RFIE yesterday so I am expecting to receive it Tue or Wed next week. I have yet to find out the reason. I filed a service request June 24 and received a response thru email last July 3rd that a decision has not been made and that it is still under review. Until now, no biometrics appointment. How did you manage to reschedule your appointment? How did you discover it was sent long ago? When I called them they said the same thing, that an appointment has not been set for me. WTH! What’s taking so long???

It's frustrating.. I hope you can figure it out what's going on!
A summary of my case:

- Sent the package on May 7

- Got the messages for the 4 NOAs on May 14
- On May 18 Got only 2 out of 4 NOA1 letters (even tough the inform delivered app showed I would be receiving all of them)
- On May 24, the inform delivered app showed that I would be receiving a letter from USCIS. I though it was the biometrics app. Never received this one

- My husband (petitioner) went to USPS to complain and they recommended him to add my name on the mail box (I saw this recommendation in the April filers as well)

- In June, we called them a bunch of times to ask about these letters. I explained that I was afraid it would be the biometrics. The officers said that it could not be because no appt was created for me

- After 30 days of opening a request (July 9), I called them and explained that it has been more than 2 months since I sent my package and haven't heard back from the biometrics. The officer said she will open a new request and if I don't hear back after 30 days they would try to track my case through a tier 2. I was very frustrated. I insisted more for them to do more than that. She collected some info such as the office I chose to do the final interview (I'm adjusting from F1, so I had to choose the office in the form i-130). After this call, I received an email saying that they sent the appt letter but it was not delivered. It didn't say when or other details. I called USCIS again to know about the date and try to reschedule if the date was past. They transferred me to a tier 2, who called me back and told me that the appt was created on June 4 but it was cancelled because I did not show up. I was able to reschedule with her.

- On the same day, before talking with the tier 2, my status changed to "a RFIE was issued...".
- On July 15 I received the RFIE letter (birth certificate)
- On July 18 I received the rescheduled appt letter

Your case can be like mine but it can also be like others who just had their appt letter issued very late. It can be both.. I can't tell...

I believe that USCIS is having a hard time to process a bunch of cases because this time of the year they process a lot of H1B requests... that's my guess...
I hope you can figure out what's going on.. this is a harsh journey 😔

Got our biometrics today!

It was sent on the 12th. This was a 50 day differential from our NOA

Interestingly, this biometric notice is for the EAD. The office I will be attending is very fast and efficient historically compared to other locations. As such the AOS is 99% of the time granted before the EAD is even looked at.

Is anyone aware of whether this biometrics is perhaps covering the AOS application and some system setup has meant that the EAD was printed as the application type?

I have my biometrics appointment notice! Finally! It's on 1 August at midday, a mere 69 days after my NOA1. The notice date is 7/12, so it was processed just before I put in my service request.

I hope everyone else still waiting gets their biometrics notice soon.

Been reading people's posts, and realized that my I-765's status didn't change to "fingerprint review was completed" as my I-485. Has anyone had the same situation? Is it gonna affect my combo card process? thank you!!

Most people don't have the status change to fingerprint review was complete. I've seen a few receive it, but mostly it eventually changes to interview ready to be scheduled on the I-485. I haven't seen any change at all to my EAD & AP status, my guess the next for those will be something about a card being printed.

So I check my case today for the first time and it says on the case tracker that they are ready to schedule an interview as for July 9th. But I have yet to receive anything in the mail. Can anyone enlighten me on the time frame from when they are ready to schedule to when they actually schedule the interview is ?

This just means that they now have the paperwork needed & you are in line for an interview. How long it takes will depend on the length of your local office, or whatever office they sent yours to (since they are supposedly sometimes sending people to other offices to even out the workload). You can expect to sit in this status for quite a while, this is the longest waiting status of the AOS process (from what I can tell).

I hope that for you as well. You can check your local office's typical timeline to get a feel for how long you will have to wait to receive an interview, it usually takes many months to wait for an interview date. Here's to hoping that they speed this process up soon!

I filed a week before you did and wife did her biometrics July 11th. Yeah no updates on biometrics, but I'm just wondering if the EAD/AP card is still 6-8 months? I don't know why it's so slow what took 3-4 months is now 6-8 months.

I'm just wondering why so many are getting an RFE for birth certificates. If you sent a copy of the original then what's the issue? Maybe it depends on the country of issuing birth certificate or lack of info. Should be a simple thing but hope I don't get one. Just a word of advice on the divorce documents if you only send a few pages you will surely get an RFE as I did when I filed the I-129f forms so make sure you send all of the pages of your divorce documents.
