I just called USCIS telling them that I've been waiting for 52 days now for my biometric letter.  She did a service request thing for me and said to call back if I don't get biometric within 30 days. Do they tell you guys the same thing?

Yup... and after 30 days, still nothing.

If you believe that the birth certificate RFIE is a "game" being played at the National Benefits Center, and you've got nothing better to do with all your spare time, then you have the option to open a complaint with the DHS OIG for Fraud, Waste, and Abuse.

Probably not a fight worth picking, I'm just going to send mine in again.

After all it is possible that something's gone missing at some point of the process.

Yes, they told me the same thing. Is it the first time that you are submitting a request with them? If it is, try to call them after the 30 days. If not, you can tell them that it is the second time that you are submitting a request with them and that it is not normal, and you would like to talk to a Tier 2 to have more information about it.
If the Tier 2 says that an appointment letter was sent and you did not show up, you can explain that you never received the letter. They will reschedule it and mail a new letter to you. They also told me that if the letter is not sent until 5 days of the appointment date, you can call they to fax it to you.

Quite interesting the amount of posts about biometric letters being delayed, etc.  Perhaps more (the American spouse) should begin complaining to their congressman/elected officials?  We're seeing issues across the board, helpless in most instances, and at the total whims of USCIS.  It might not do a lot, but with Immigration such a hot topic, could be beneficial.

I emailed them, answer came from my field office that your case is within time period, if it crosses 90 days without any further progress, then do call at the numbers given.
