We're still bashing Social Security to tell us whether my wife is approved or denied.   We went last week, and the guy was super puzzled on why their system wasn't giving any type of Yay or Nay on her application.  We filed for it 2 weeks after she arrived (April 18th).  We were suppose to get a call back either last Friday or this Monday, but nadda.

For those who haven't heard back from USCIS for the biometric appointment yet (more than 3 weeks since receiving the NOA1s): have you contacted USCIS? I did twice... last time was on June 7 and every time we called them they opened a request and that give them up to 30 days to solve the issue... I have the impression that it is not a good idea to submit a request.. it gives them more time to process our case... :(

That is the same thing i was told but today it's 30dayd and nothing

They nowadays don’t request people go to SSA office for ssn application they will send ssn directly after the system found you filed the AOS when they issued the EAD/AP cards the ssn will be follows

Even you go to SSA they can’t issue the SSN the application will be pending they save your record until the combo card issued or system status changed

I believe that only applies if you applied for your SSN on your EAD/AP forms.

Hi guys I hope you can help me with this.

We got married March 29th, turned in all the paperwork for AOS (I485 etc.) on May 13th.

We haven't heard anything yet for biometric appointment (seems to be normal according to what I read here in the chat).

Anyways I am wondering when I need to change my new name on the passport. I can not find any information about this.

Should I do this already if yes do I go to my closest embassy? Or should I wait until AOS is done (since I turned in the copy of my passport bio page with my old name).

I am a little bit concerned that once I get the travel authorization and I travel with my old name in the passport it causes some troubles.

Thanks for your help it advance!

I suggest people go to SSA after you got the EAD card with the old SSN for name change because you can go anytime for a new SSN

My wife got her SS card before marriage and has already got her name changed now with no EAD/AP card yet. We just brought the right documents after marriage and the lady said she would run it every Friday until DHS recognizes the name change, then a couple weeks ago she has already received her SS card with her new last name.

Thats what we did also. We went to SS office and filled out application with her old name. (NYC location) Two weeks later she got her card in the mail. We got married few weeks later. After marriage she went back to SS office and did a name change application, she needed to show the marriage certificate. About two weeks later we got SS card with new name.
