Hi!

I’m not sure what state you’re in but in Oklahoma, you cannot get a drivers or state ID on a K1 visa. You must wait until green card or EAD to get one.

However, we went to the DMV and they told us that  my husband can legally drive with his foreign license. We also asked a few cop friends and they said the same thing.

We bought my husband a little truck to drive around in and put everything in both of our names! We got the title and insurance with no problems with his foreign license!

Hi! I'm glad to read this, I'm also in OK and I went to DMV and they told me exactly the same. They said they can't issue a drivers license or state ID on a K1, but I can drive on my foreign license in the meantime. I wasn't too convinced if that info was right because of what I've read on VJ but now that I know they told you the same I feel more confident about it. I guess it is just different on every state.

Let us know what they say when you go back! I'm interested to hear the outcome. Maybe the person who filed it the first time did something wrong. Hopefully it goes smoothly this time.

This is so good to know, thank you! What office did you go to?

We are going through the San Antonio office too but no biometrics letter yet but it's early for us. I'm hoping we get it next week but I'll keep ya updated.

IF you're feeling particularly impatient, you can always call and see if they've received them. Chances are they have and they are still working on getting the NOA1 mailings out. If they received it, they can give you your receipt numbers and you can start tracking those while you wait for your paper copies.

We completed my wife's biometrics today.  Now the long wait approaches for her GC interview :(

On a nice note, we did go to Charlotte and visited some Brazilian shops.

Where did you send your AOS forms to? I sent mine to the Chicago lockbox on the 22nd of May and they received it on the same day as you did the 24th. I too have not gotten a NOA1 letter yet or even a text message. Most people here says they got a text  after 1 week saying the package was received and 2 weeks till the NOA1 letter arrived. I don't like the feeling it takes this long but we'll see hopefully this weekend.

Have you guys sent DS3025 form with your AOS? I didn't and now I think I should have sent it. That is a copy of vaccination chart I was given at my medical exam.

We included a copy of it, yes. But I wouldn't too worry about it as they suppose to have the original as part of that "do not open!" visa packet you had to schlep with you to point of entry.

Thanks, I hope they won't ask for it again. Let me ask you this please: did you send a certified copy of your birth certificate or a regular copy? I send a normal copy, not certified and also a copy of birth certificate translation. Uff this really stresses me out, I did it all alone with a newborn baby. My US husband just took it to the post office. If something gets messed up it will be completely my fault 😕
