That's so odd. You would think they would have you in the system by then. Did you use your married or maiden name? I would try taking that letter and going to the social security administration again and see if they can resend the request.

@celie&joseph I used my maiden name because the SS clerk told me that the married one was not yet in USCIS system. Actually in the letter they mentioned that if I think it is a mistake I should call or go to the office .. I guess I will do that, and also I will ask for expedited EAD when I get my case number, my employer has been waiting for me to have the work permit to start with the relocation process, I don't want to tell them it will take 6 more months 😮

btw I keep opening new windows because I dont know how to reply directly from your last comment (thanks very much for answering)

We'll be driving to Greer, SC this week for my wife's biometric's appointment day.  Will they let her go earlier in the day for biometrics?  (her appointment is at 11:30am, but I have a 2.5 hour drive so we'll be arriving in SC probably around 9am or so as a safety net in case of issues).

Anyone have any experience?

U can even go there daysss before anytime when they’re open

Hi guys,

I really need your help.

I passed road test today, but when I went to apply my formal driving license, they told me according to 'Admit Until Date', they cannot issue me license because this date will be expired.

I told them I got married in Mar, but they said they can only use this date in SAVE system to verify whether I have legal doc to stay in US.

I did some research online, our K1 visa holder cannot apply to extend this date to USCIS.

Will this thing also affect my green card application?

What can I do for my driving license, the only thing I can do is to wait for my green card? I am so sad that I cannot drive.

This has no impact on your Adjustment of Status and the resultant Green  Card

You cannot extend the I94 that resulted from entering on the K1

Depending  on the state in which you live , you will most likely require an Employment Authorization Document .. which you hopefully applied for at the same time as your AOD application , to be eligible for a drivers licence.

The EAD takes 4 to 6 months to be processed .. if you didn’t apply for the EAD then you will need to wait for the GC.. 12 to 18 months processing.. to demonstrate legal residency for your licence

Hi!

I’m not sure what state you’re in but in Oklahoma, you cannot get a drivers or state ID on a K1 visa. You must wait until green card or EAD to get one.

However, we went to the DMV and they told us that  my husband can legally drive with his foreign license. We also asked a few cop friends and they said the same thing.

We bought my husband a little truck to drive around in and put everything in both of our names! We got the title and insurance with no problems with his foreign license!

Did you apply for a green card?

Same thing happened to me (Texas), though I haven't yet taken the test. Basically, what I did (and, SURPRISINGLY, IT WORKED OUT!!!!): I went back to the DPS office with a green card NOA1 letter (which is a document confirming your lawful presence - https://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/documents/verifyingLawfulPresence.pdf page no. 3, "Applicants for adjustment of status"), I showed them this file from their own website and demanded additional verification. Trust me, they were not happy. There was some kind of an "error" in the system (I guess what they meant was that the "admit until date" was going to happen in two days) so they've scanned this letter and sent it together with all the other scans for verification (by someone "way above us" whatever that means). The guy at the DPS office told me "It's not going to work out either way, you're going to get denied" BUT after two weeks I got a letter from DPS saying that my lawful presence was confirmed and I can apply for a driver's license. I took pleasure from the look on that guy's face when I got back to the office with that letter. I'm taking a test this Thursday. Do the same and don't let them tell you there's nothing they can do BECAUSE THEY CAN!

Did my biometrics today. It was very quick, more or less than 5 minutes. Now, what's next? 💁‍♀️

Same! My husband has his biometric yesterday. Now I believe waiting is what's next. But I'm pretty sure that's the answer for everything in this process haha

I'll go tomorrow to DMV but there is a way to get a license that is not valid as an ID, privilege driving license. You can find more information about that if you want to drive, but I have been driving with my Peruvian license and I think it's ok.

In Michigan, it seems you will have to wait for your EAD to get a driver's license:

Let us know what they say when you go back! I'm interested to hear the outcome. Maybe the person who filed it the first time did something wrong. Hopefully it goes smoothly this time.

Hi
Has anyone from San Antonio - TX Office already received the biometrics appointment letter? I sent my package on May 7, got my NOAs electronically on May 14, received 2 of the 4 NOA physical copies and haven't heard back yet for the biometrics... just wondering if it is normal...

We are going through the San Antonio office too but no biometrics letter yet but it's early for us. I'm hoping we get it next week but I'll keep ya updated.

In Virginia they used my alien # to confirm my status. Did you bring your adjustment paperwork? Each state is different but I got my license without a social security # just my aos paperwork my Canadian licence passport and cable bill.

We've sent our forms on May 4th, then on the 11th I've got 2 text messages after 11pm that they've received our documents. On May 17th they've sent out I-797c for green card and employment authorization. Then few days later we've received letter with bio-metrics appointment.

Went for the appointment last Monday. It took only 15 minutes.

What's next?

I've red here that people are sending some medical exam results with their forms? We didn't send any medical nor vaccination results with our documents.

USCIS doesn't have a set rule on this but most people I've seen advise to do it single sided since they have to scan  your entire file into their system and double sided pages makes extra work for them.

Thanks a lot for reply ..so i printed out again on one side of paper ...better to b on safer side i guess
