Does anyone know if you need to change your social security card after you receive a green card?

I used to work for university when I was a student, so I have a social security card but it has VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION on it. Do I need to change my social security card to one that doesn't have those words? Thank you!

No, your SSN is yours for life. Even if you have a new card issued, it will have the same number and still have the DHS statement on it.

Yes! The paper that u receive along with ur SSN card mentions that u shud contact the SSA when there is a change in your immigration status or if u become a citizen.

My exprience, I call the ss call center and I went to the ss office, to remove the restriction, however, having showed the green card and make clear to the person a talked to, that I wanted to remove the conditions, I got on the mail the new card with the restriction in it.

I do not now what to believe, one person told me that this will remain until I renew my residence.

So, now I have 3 versions, very difficult to believe either.

It's a good idea to update it once you have your green card since your immigration status has changed. The number will stay the same but the DHS wording will be removed. Bring your green card, marriage certificate, and passport to the SSA. I updated mine because it previously had my maiden name on it, plus the DHS wording. The new one arrived in a week.

Hi guys do I have to go to the interview with I-864  if already submitted? Thank you

Just checked what it is on the interview letter, mine said that "unless already submitted", so I did not take it, because I submitted when sending the inicial package.

It’s good practice to take everything you have ever submitted, since it’s considered as evidence.

We didn’t need it in our interview, but they could have asked for it. They can ask for anything they think is relevant to your case.

I brought everything, especially copies of all applications submitted (K1 to AOS). Good luck.

Guys, tonight something FINALLY happened... after 198 days of no update of any kind since submitting my case... I got a notification 😭🙌

How long will it take to get the letter? And how far off will the interview be?

I'm at day 184 since getting this message :) But to get this message it took about 4 weeks since the biometrics were done.

Still waiting for interview.

My biometrics was done on June 26th and I never heard a word after that until last night, "case ready to be scheduled for interview" so I could wait months for a letter with the interview?

I'm hoping to get my EAD in the meantime. 7 months of nothing, now I'm ready to be scheduled, but no EAD

Has any one experience with e-requests and AOS rfes?

For e-requests, did you get a reply by the date it said?
For RFE, was it acknowledged they received it? How long before you got response?

currently losing my mind!😬😬

Just curious,

Did anyone receive their EAD without any online updates/status changes? Or has anyone received the status update "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" and then get your EAD without a notification, or update?

When you received your EAD, how was it delivered, did you have to sign? Did it show you anything on informed delivery about the package? who or where it was coming from?

My NOA's are all NBC, Field office will be Long Island, NY.

The only update after 200 days was "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" on Dec 10th, my AP is now outside the processing times bracket, and my EAD will be in 5 days. Wondering if I will ever receive my EAD/AP prior to my interview, because all of my home issued government ID/Passport recently expired and I cannot renew any of it without going home and doing it in person, because I am married now. So, I have no Valid ID for my interview 😭
