I think you can take the EAD to the SSA office and apply for a social security number.

Finally got a notification that the EAD has been ordered for production. Hopefully we have it in hand soon!

Would be great if you filled in your timeline

Good luck!   Mess of a road construction site around the USCIS office so plan ahead and you'll avoid our only major headache :)

Good to know! And our appointment is at 9:30am I think so traffic is going to be crazy, I'm sure.

Our status still shows as "Interview was scheduled" but today we received in the mail our approval NOA for permanent residence.  I was sweating bullets since we never saw anything updated on USCIS. Our interview date was 10-29 / notice date 10-31.

Great day when you open up a letter from USCIS and see "Welcome to the United States of America" in bold letters.

So, I suppose this means I'll see you all in a year and a half when we start going through the slow as heck ROC process 😐

I guess your status hadn't changed either?  We were quite worried because we didn't get the instant or next day change like others have from the Nashville office.

No, it’s still the same. I was locked out of my account yesterday too. So are we, seeing so many people get told straight away has been so disheartening, it doesn’t help that i haven’t gotten EAD yet either

What is the best response to employers as to why my SSN is not available yet? Will that hinder my chances of landing a job?

You shouldn't need to disclose your ssn until you actually start working.   Some may ask for it prior

YMMV

Right, that’s exactly what I am asking. We know it takes weeks before we can get it but I have job interview lined up this week.

Like the person who responded to you said, they don’t ask for the SSN until you are hired/during your first week of working. You were able to get job interviews lined up for the week just fine without it apparently, so perhaps this is a question better posed to the employers who are interviewing you rather than people on this forum. It’s one of those questions that’s too specific and has too many gray areas. Just a tip maybe to make your life easier.

Gathering answers from people who had experiences. Thank you though 🙂

Status changed overnight to say Interview was Scheduled. Will wait to find out the date in the mail.

I-485 was delivered May 29, 2019 but we were one of those whose form wasn't processed for several weeks so NOA1 was June 18, 2019.

Have you  done  your  interview,  when and where was it
