My wife and I love Cartagena. We visited there twice before we got hitched, and once since she's immigrated. You'll cruise right through the immigration process with all the face to face time you have spent together. Don't hesitate to do it yourself without an attorney. You have a good case. Good luck.

hello... I have posted several topics, all of them very important to cover...

My fiance and I have been together since February 20th 2016, we met at an establishment in Cartagena Colombia, after we met, we fell deeply in love  and  we moved in together on march of that same year. I was in Colombia finishing my medical doctor career. I am 10 years older than him, that has not been an issue at all!  My fiance is very mature and very caring, and we get along pretty well... I would say excellent. During 2016 we lived together in Cartagena, once I was done with my medical career i came back to the US, and since then I have been traveling back and forth a lot!!! I would say more than three times per year and staying for long periods of times. We communicate every day, all day... I am always traveling to Colombia on special events like his birthday, my birthday, new year... for his university graduation, mothers day...we are deeply in love and he proposed last year Sept 15th, 2018 on a beautiful island in Cartagena... we had my best friend and her boyfriend come along the trip... I am so afraid that our age gap might be a red flag for immigration... we are a very cute couple, you can not even notice the age difference.. we have too much fun together... and we already experienced living together for a whole year...

You cannot be denied on age alone, it's discrimination.

They will make a decision on the totality of your evidence and relationship. I am 21 years older than my husband and we have several other so called "red flags". Never once was our age an issue with USCIS or the consulate. We never even had so much as an RFE from the very beginning up to and including naturalization. Good luck.

Gorgeous couple! Echoing what others mentioned, I don't think it presents a problem unless there were many other red flags.

My parents have an 8 year age gap (my dad is 54, mum is 62) and the only time it's ever been a problem is when the topic of music and films from their childhood come up! And a friend of mine in their 40s is dating an American girl in her 20s, they may go through the visa process in the future but I doubt it would be an issue as they're a very genuine couple and have spent so many visits together. She was kept for questioning at the UK border when she first visited but hasn't had a problem since.

Ok here's the deal. My fiance and I have a 13 year difference. She lives in Ibague. I have made only 2 trips there but spent the whole time with them while I was there. Sent photos of us and her family together. I take it they like to see you integrate with the family. We got the NOA2 at the beginning of April. Now just waiting for NVC to do their thing. If you satisfy the RFE's, with your amount of face time in the past 2 years, you should be a shoe in for the next step. Good luck!

BTW: I've been to Cartagena. Bocagrande is good but the vendors on the beach can be annoying! Good eats there though!

Also on another note, NVC is currently processing visa applications received  on Apr 3rd. So that explains mine and anyone else's delay.

Hi!!! Sure... i did not include the benificiary intent to marry statement and my final divorce decree! When I submitted the 129F, i had enclosed my divorce document that was given to me the day I was divorced ! but USCIS said that the document i sent was not the official decree! So i went to the court and got an official one! I didn’t include my fiancé statement because I really truly did not read the instructions at the moment i was assembling the package! But i sent a tons of pictures, passport stamps, airline tickets! And a brief description of how we met! So when i replies the RFE i enclosed a cover letter, the original RFE letter, the divorce decree, benificiary intent to marry statement, my intent to marry statement, and since i had traveled 3 times this year, sent those evidence too!

I am also older than my fiancé and a larger age gap than yours. I realize it’s less culturally acceptable but praying they will see that we are in love and serious about getting married. It’s not fun having to prove our love on paper but it’s the process for him to move to the US.

You will be approved in no time, don't worry. 10 years is nothing to worry about and you have enough proof for your ongoing relationship. There are other couples with 30-40 years age gap which is more questionable and they still get approved. Just make sure, you have your papers in order and you will be together in a few months.
