How long Does it typically take to receive the card? Can I call Uscis about this? If so what department do I reach out to?

How many weeks or days before the interview did your husband do the medical exam?

He got his medical exam on April 15 and the interview was May 9 but the medical office was supposed to send the results electronically to the CO e-mail, but when we got there for the interview, the co didn’t had the results and we got “pre-approve” and depending on the medical results the visa was supposed to be approved. And that add an additional week of waiting for the case to be finalized, but If your visa is approved and the co have all the required documentation you should be able to pick up your visa in about 2 or 3 business day after your interview, that is how long most people that got approved in DR have gotten their passport with the visa stamped

My application status shows as "Completed" in ceac website. Should that be something like "Accepted" if it's ready for interview? I was wondering if I should call NVC. Thanks in advance. The visa status shows "at NVC"

My CC is also May 3rd. And im still waiting also for interview. Long as you received the email saying your Documentary Qualified. Then you just have to wait for interview letter. They are susposely done with june interview letters so hopefully next month we'll get early july interview. Good luck!

Hi,

My husband just received his CR-1 visa.  I was wondering why it says that it will expire in 6 months.  The date is November 22, 2019.  Is this because he should have his green card in hand by then? Or is this a mistake on his visa?

Thank you!

All the Visa is for entry. Everyone gets 6 months from the day of the medical to enter the US. Visa are voided upon arrival
He is a CR1 which means upon arrival and through processing he is a green card holder. They will give him a 551 stamp in passport which is his temporary green card.
Usually green card arrives 45 days or less after arrival. You cab pay the $220 fee before he leaves his country or after he arrives in US. That fee is what actually produces the physical green card.

Good morning everyone,

I filed an amended tax return as Married filing separately during the NVC stage.

I put my wife as NRA(Non-Resident Alien) because I never applied a SSN or ITIN number for her, but now IRS sent me a mail asking for her SSN or ITIN.

Should I just tell IRS my wife is in the process of waiting for her interview letter, and she won't have a SSN until she enters the States? If so, will they reject my amended tax return since nothing can be done at this point?

Thanks!

You should just hold on to that. You shouldn't have amended until she gets here. That way you can amen all the years married. So just wait till she gets to US and amend with correct information.

Thank you so much for replying!  Does the green card then replace the visa pasted into the passport?

No the Visa and green card are two different things. The Visa is just to gain entry into the US. The green card stamp   (551 stamp) given at arrival is the temp green card. He is free to travel internationally with it just like the green card that will come later. The visa is voided upon arrival.

Do you know if paying the fee asap speeds up production and issuance of the green card? Or would it not actually be made until he arrives in US? I was wondering if it made sense to pay the green card fee now even though CEAC hasn't showed the visa has been issued yet. My husband wants to start looking for work immediately and he's worried he'll have to wait around for 45 days before he can start.

The Green Card wouldn't be made until he arrives in the US. I would recommend that you guys make the immigrant fee payment after he receives his visa but before he enters the US. He won't have to wait until he receives his Green Card in the mail as the I-551 stamp on his passport serves as the GC until he actually receives the real thing in the mail.
