Bank records

My fiancé wants to know if they will ask her about her bank records (show money) during her interview for a K1 visa in Manila. One Filipina she knows was denied a tourist visa due to lack of documentation. Apparently “show money” is referring to bank records of the person being interviewed such as deposit slips and/or statement from the bank. Does anyone out there know more about this? Thanks in advance for your help.

Tourist and K1 are two very different visas.  Banking is not going to be discussed at a k1 interview

YMMV

Most who have interviewed at USEM have not been asked for financials for going on about 3-4 years now. Once in awhile the CO will ask someone for their financials. What the CO is referring to is these stated requirements if asked:

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form (https://www.uscis.gov/i-134) K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with an original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript Use this link to determine the income levels needed https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p.

If you are not prepared and are asked you will be given a 221(g) and after the interview you will need to submit. So you have a choice here go with all the requirements and if asked you will have them or go without and receive a 221(g) requesting those documents till such time as you return them, your case will remain in limbo. Either way is fine and should not have a negative outcome. Your mileage may vary.

No, they will not ask about her bank records or finances.    The tourist visa is a different critter totally.

They may ask to see your I-134, most recent tax return and W2 .. but that is about it.  No bank statements.
