Ah. She won't be getting the visa before she turns 18. She will need to naturalize on her own, not derive citizenship through a parent.

I see. The IO told me a different thing though. He said as long as I get naturalized before she turns 18 (which I did). Basically the same thing as Lean Stanley posted

Here's the requirements: https://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/citizenship-through-parents

Quote
  • The child has at least one parent, including an adoptive parent, who is a U.S. citizen by birth or through naturalization;
  • The child is under 18 years of age;
  • The child is a lawful permanent resident (LPR); and
  • The child is residing in the United States in the legal and physical custody of the U.S. citizen parent.

The item in bold doesn't apply until they enter on the immigrant visa.

That would be possible only if she were already residing in the US and has a green card.  Perhaps the IO misunderstood the full situation when telling you this.

Probably. Though he repeated it back to me to clarify. Oh well. Most important thing is that she’ll be here soon. We’re not in a hurry to get her citizenship. Thank you for your input 😊

No, she has to be both living in the US (as a LPR in your custody) and under 18 when you naturalize to derive it from you. I'm the "opposite", we are all living in the US but my daughter turned 18 while I'm still waiting to naturalize. I have studied this in detail - both conditions need to be satisfied. So your daughter will come in on her immigrant visa, and naturalize after 5 years assuming she has met the physical presence and continuous residence requirements.
