After barely missing out on the last shipment, I can happily say my case is now in transit! 😁

I try not to fret too much, I'm happy things are moving and it has given me more time to confidently prepare. Thanks again Greenbaum for the DHL trick, will be sure to use that on Wednesday.

Weird question.

Can someone travel from another country when the visa is granted?

My fiance's grandma has a medical condition in another country. So my fiance would be there after the interview.  We were wondering if she could travel from another country instead of the country where the visa was granted? Pls ans would be great

As long as neither your fiancee's passport nor visa have expired by the time she wants to enter the US, it doesn't matter where she goes between her interview and that (probably not an issue for you, but do not book travel that has a layover in the US, as that will count as using her K-1). It's best to leave at least some margin for error on this, because unexpected events can delay travel.

the medical is valid for 6 months.

i.e. if you complete it today July 10th, your visa validity will be capped at November 10th.

So in reality if your interview is on August 10th, due to your medical 6 month limit the visa will expiry on November 10th in 5 months only.

so use the above to decide if it's a good time for you to do it or not.

In our case we started the medical in Northern-Thailand knowing that it will take 1 month to complete it. The gonorrhea test is sent up to Bangkok.

So I estimate the interview date on August 2nd and the medical will just complete for us on July 31st.

You can complete the medical exam anytime as long as there is enough time before the interview that the results will be at the Embassy for your interview.  Keep in mind that your visa validity is only six months and it begins using the medical exam date not the interview approval date.

Ceac still shows the same status.  I assume since everyone else is getting their in transit and mine still says at NVC that’s where it is.

I agree but they do ship out Tuesday and Wednesday so l recommend giving it another 24 hours before making that call.

Thank you @Greenbaum for your constant reassurance and guidance.  It’s alarming for me since they’ve received our case from USCIS back in May.  However from following a few French timelines it seems as if they’ve been shipping to France every other month.  I could be wrong but that’s what it seems like.  Now the website says they are currently working on cases received June 25 so now I’m worried since ours have been there since May 16.

If it were me, I'd give one more day to see if it ships today. If it doesn't when I check Thursday morning and it hasn't, then I would start making that call and talking to a Tier 2 over at NVC. Yes, level heads today, panic tomorrow.
