10 days after the date of approval. I still haven't hard copy, I called nvc yesterday. They already have my case

Should I start calling/ emailing about the NVC case number 10 days after the date it's showing approved or should I be waiting for the actual hard copy NOA2?

Thank you for asking this question! I was wondering the same thing. I also wasn’t sure if the date the new website says approved (May 14th) would differ to what is on the actual hard copy and whether there would be a receipt or reference number on there that we need to email.

So my question to piggy back off yours is, do we email them right away to update with our email addresses now? Or wait until we have the hard copy of NOA2 in the mail before doing this, or the calling NVC after 10 business days step?

Thank you in advance guys. I have saved the PDF file and will read, re-read and read again until it makes sense to me. In the meantime, this website is a treasure of useful information ❤️

I went ahead and used the link to give the email address, but if it's anything like the USCIS emails/texts were supposed to get I'm not holding my breath. It looks like we start calling 10 days from approval date!

Hi, am a bit confused so if NVC has your case how long it takes for them to assign a number to that? And after they assigned a number is ready for shipment to the beneficiary embassy ? Thank you.

It's taking longer to get to NVC from USCIS about a month from approval. I'd hang in their and call once a week and when you get closer to the 30 days if you haven't heard anything then be on the phone a little more often. Calling is not going to move this faster it's just going to give you satisfaction if that's important to you. Otherwise you will get a letter in the mail from USCIS and NVC will notify you also by snail mail with your case number.

They are speeding up so again, once a week and then more if needed. Your mileage may vary.

I called USCIS. There is no change in the status so far. The lady said that the processing time for this particular USCIS office in California is 5.5-7.5 months, so the case is still within processing times for NOA2.

Looks like you have a ways to go. I'd stay busy and off of VJ for awhile and not calling USCIS everyday because it will be finished when it is finished. Not you nor a act of congress is going to move it forward. Sorry, but's that's the honest truth. JMHO.

Massive thanks to @Greenbaum for the helpful information!

We received our NOA2 today, with approval date May 8th. I updated my email address with the NVC and I guess now I'm just waiting for them to receive the file before I can start calling to ask for my case number?
