Income from a trust is counted like self employment income.  Unless also "employed", take current income from the total income line of the first page of 1040 form.

Much appreciated! Thank you @janet3 for the help.

The instructions on the letter? It just said go to their website and learn about the K visa and preparation for interview.
On the DS160 website? It just said how long I plan on staying in the US. Obviously I plan on staying forever but since I'm applying for K1 would I just put 90 days since that's how long it's valid for?

Your choices would be in the drop down menus and should be a close fit to what the purpose of your K-1 visa is.

1. Purpose of the trip. Search for K-1

2. Specify - use what best fits.

I don't have access to the DS-160 to see the choices so I am doing my best to help. Just use common sense. The answers you give in most cases is not going to render a denial. Just do your best and discuss with the CO at the interview.

For those who received an updated “in transit” status when was your case sent to NVC.  I’m a little concerned because our status has been “AT NVC” since the day I called to get my case number over a month ago.  Due to high volume calls I’m never able to get through to an agent.  :(

anyone with May 15th or later NOA2, who got a confirmed receipt by NVC?

I looked at the stats and the latest guys are May 8 NOA2 with confirmed and recorded NVC receipts.

NVC is getting really slow just to even acknowledge receipt from USCIS. They also changing to story...2 weeks ago, "wait 30 days", now "no...no, not 30 days, minimum 6 weeks before you contact us"

luckily the NOA2 specifies min 30 days then contact NVC...so I took a screenshot and put it into my email. I also sent my email now, since these lazy ones don't read it for 1-2 weeks, so by the time they open it, it will be due for research... ;)

please share your latest.

I had the same issue trying to get through to the NVC customer service # at first.  As soon as you hear the recording with the guys voice about high volume of calls, hang up and immediately redial.  When you do get through, you'll know because it is a different recording.  I called, got the recording, hung up and immediately re-dialed and after 6 or 7 times I was able to get through.

You may have missed the cutoff. Usually it's the Wednesday before, and for you that was the day you were assigned, but we have seen some who missed the shipment because they were that close. Next shipment out will be on June 25.

Thanks for the tip.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

  1. How long to assign a Case # from NOA2: The timeline for receiving your case number is this. From USCIS to NVC about 4 weeks. NVC is issuing case numbers in about 2 - 4 weeks after receipt from USICS. The timelines of when something happens from NOA2 to case assignment is in a ebb and flow situation. The more cases that USCIS approves the more case numbers that have to be assigned by NVC. Then your file is shipped to your embassy based on the current scheduling. June 11 or 25 are the shipment dates for this month. Case number assignment must be assigned before the Wednesday before the next shipping date. That is the history of the past 9 months.  Your mileage may vary! More of this :clock:
