Some people are lucky. I am definitely not among them cause it took forever for noa2 probably will be another long wait for NVC case number. Well I am going to wait what else I can do.

I don't think it will take the 6 weeks, maybe a full month though. I feel your pain, all this waiting and the unknowns sure aren't easy.

From my understanding and from what I have learned when I called the NVC, it doesn't arrive same day and get a case number that day. It takes a few days to process. I would assume that person maybe didn't know the exact date it arrived at NVC.

that is what i am assuming too... beacuse what are the odds that they will get case # assigned the same day it arrived..... its kind of misleading when other people post incorrect dates... it throws off your stimate waiting time for those that are anxiously waiting...

I called again today to NVC and they said my case is still not there. I am starting to panick already. Do you think could be wise to call USCIS and ask why they haven't sent the case yet or just wait. I believe we have the same date for NOA 2. May 2nd

my NOA 2 is on May 9th.... USCIS waits to have a bundle of cases approved to send the bulk to NVC... thats what i was told.... i am very anxious.... traveling back and forth is braking my pockets...... and the waiting is exhausting

Those are Las Vegas odds. Yes some will receive their case number on the same day it arrives.

Here is what we see. There is a period of time about two weeks where USCIS will dribble a few cases. Then there is somewhere in the middle that a tractor trailor (Im exaggerating) backs in to NVC and then the work begins but their are so many cases that they get backed up. So the pipeline gets filled to the point that case number assignment slows down. Then we see them begin to lessen the time between receipt and assignment because they are nearing their slow period where the catch up. Thats an observation made over years of being here.

good morning! so i have been noticing that some of the timelines that i am checking out, they have NVC

received and NVC Case number assigment date on the same day... is that accurate?

It seems this happened to our case. I called on Friday and they told me they haven't received our petition yet.

I called again on Monday and I got a case number. I later checked when it was assigned and it happened on Friday. So I guess they received it later on Friday and assigned a case number same day.

Regarding the I-134 at interview (Affidavit of support)

If your Fiance is employed, do they still have to submit the bank letter stating the total amount deposited over the last year? and supply bank statements if they are already submitting tax transcripts?

Thanks

I read over your embassy's P3 where as the only reference to the documents needed to support the I-134 is "1-134 document accompanied by the most current tax returns from the petitioner."

If you wanted to be safe, and this is what I did, I copied from my bank statements only the cover page for the past 12 months. The cover page from your bank normally shows starting balance, withdrawals and ending balance. That should be all they need. Otherwise, go with just the most current tax return/tax transcript as stated in the P3.

@Greenbaum Thanks for the update, could you please share the pdf file for the P3 for the South African consulate?

Just getting all my ducks in a row and I will also prepare the bank docs accordingly

Thanks

Here is the information that I have on SA including the P3. I highly recommend that you seek out your sub-forum. Find the link in the information below.

The best thing you can do is head on over to this thread and make yourself comfortable and knowledgeable from others who are processing from SA. Link is here.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/663264-south-african-k1-visa-applicants/

Here is the P3 letter for South Africa https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eFx68_qjxcdedQnvDkdB5A0oKTew17VW/view?usp=sharing

Some additional information to be aware of:

Best thing for you all to do is get your police certificates BUT they cannot be older than 6 months.  If you were 16 and older and lived in another country besides S.A., then you will need a police certificate from there as well, so be prepared.

Start gathering documents, originals of birth certificates, divorce decree's, pictures and other evidence of your relationship that was not included in your original package (since it will take some time, they still want to see you are still an active couple).  Any passport photos cannot be older than 6 months old.

When you get your NOA2, give it about 10 days before you call NVC and asking status of your case.  You can always call USCIS for your status, but they are not the friendliest and I wouldn't even but them until at least 90 days minimum, I highly doubt they have caught up with the backlog, especially with all the immigration and DACA stuff going on.  The NVC is much friendlier, when you get there and will help you with no problem with any update you are asking.  But normally when you get your NOA2, like I said give it at least 10 days before you call them.  They didn't get our package for at least 14 days.

After you get your NOA2 and your package goes to NVC, it goes pretty quick, so use this time wisely to gather all your documents.  The petitioner needs to provide pay stubs (3 months), I-134 Aff. of Support, Employment verification letter, VA eligibility letter, if applicable, to show as part of income and last 3 years of tax records.

Then once NVC processes your package, a medical appointment can be made, you only have 2 options, one in Joburg and one in Cape Town.  My fiancé went to Joburg.   It's a 2 day process, but spread between 3 days.  You go one day for bloodwork and x-rays and the next for shots and discussion with the dr., so plan on that.

Your finance, not the petitioner, will need to fill out the Visa app online, DS-160 and pay the fee.

Make sure you set up your online account correctly and schedule the interview. They only do K1 visa interviews there at the consulate the last 2 weeks of the month and only on Tues and Thursdays.  So plan wisely.

Did you mail them daily or just the once to update you on the case progress?
