I just received my Noa2 in the mail and we were approved on May 10th.  I emailed the NVC today for my case number so I'll be waiting for that. But What are the next steps after emailing them. I read the PDF file for information to email NVC and to call for case number. But can I start my D-160 form and my fiancé start the I-134 form now Or do we have to wait for case number?  Are the next steps to come the forms while I wait for my case number?

And once I have my case number is that when Im able to call to make a medical appointment?

Thanks for the help in advance. I'm Just trying to make sense of everything!

You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actual one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards.

Birth Certificate and Police Certificate information

Here is some additional information. As was stated in the Canadian sub-forum there is an "emergency order" application in Ontario. You need the birth cert that is CERTIFIED COPY OF BIRTH REGISTRATION that has the parents name. You don't want the "parental cert" that is a wallet sized one with parents names but no place of birth, doctors who attended birth etc. The parental one is for parents travelling with kids to prove custody in an easy to use/travel with format. Hope this clears up your question. CALL the registrar and tell them you need to do an emergency application otherwise you will be waiting 15+ weeks. Absolutely the long form is a required LIVE document needed at the interview or you'll get rejected.  I hope this info is helpful and best of luck.

In case you're doing the medical in Vancouver: Dr. Cheema requires you to schedule the interview first in order to book the medical.

Wow thank you for that critical information. I only have the parental cert birth certificate the large one is no where to be found so I'll have to get that for the interview!!!!!!!! ... Thank you for all the imformation it definitely puts things more in perspective for me. And ill be having my medical done in Vancouver so good to know that DR.Cheema requires interview date booked first!

2 to 4 weeks from USCIS TO NVC. It explains it in the pdf file from the first page first post.  Tips, tricks and hacks to help you and to answer those questions, like the one you just ask, that we know people will ask so we put in a pdf so people will not ask the same question over and over.

Greenbaum! I read the pdf file and am very happy to have that information, thank you for sharing it. I'm just bound to be the annoying one who asks the same stupid questions, but mostly so others can commiserate with me.

I have followed other's timelines with NOA2 dates both before mine and after, some of the ones in April had the NVC receive their case within a week. The ones closest to my date had their case arrive in 2 weeks. I'm hoping it will be there any day now since I am coming up on three weeks.

Anyway, here's to everyone getting their case numbers and going out to the embassies by the 28th! 🥂

Looking at guides for DS160. It all seems quite straight forward.
Double checking, is the travel plans section just the purpose of the visa you're applying so I would list k1? rather than just visiting plans (which I would do on an ESTA waiver).

Thanks :)

There are going to those approved before you and their will be others after. And, you'll approve ahead of those that submitted their application prior to yours.

The system is not designed to follow what you want but what gets done in the course of the application adjudication.

The entire process would come to a standstill if USCIS were to hold those cases that they can approve and move on but because Maryann believes no one who applied after her should be approved before her. In her stary world they must wait till hers is finished the adjudication process. It just can't work that way. Just my 2 cents.

I called again today to NVC and they said my case is still not there. I am starting to panick already. Do you think could be wise to call USCIS and ask why they haven't sent the case yet or just wait. I believe we have the same date for NOA 2. May 2nd

Nah, I don't think they USCIS would be able to help at all, especially since it takes up to 6 weeks for it to arrive at the NVC. We just need to be patient.

If you call and they say "Thank you for calling the national visa center, BECAUSE.." then you should just hang up and call another time. It will disconnect your call and not put you in a queue to talk to someone because they have too many calls. If they don't say the "because" then you can push 1 and then a 7 and wait for a representative

From my understanding and from what I have learned when I called the NVC, it doesn't arrive same day and get a case number that day. It takes a few days to process. I would assume that person maybe didn't know the exact date it arrived at NVC.

Some people are lucky. I am definitely not among them cause it took forever for noa2 probably will be another long wait for NVC case number. Well I am going to wait what else I can do.
