I have been reading about what to prepare for the interview, and I read that cosponsor is not allowed for K1? I'm a little anxious about the Affidavit of Support part coz USC makes just barely above the 100% poverty guideline for 2 people.

I'm going to start calling this week to check if a case number has been assigned. Once we have a case number can we schedule the medical already even if the case hasn't made it to the embassy yet? (I have been told there is a bit of a delay with medical appointments in Malawi and am hoping the timing works out for him to return to the states with me at the end of July)

Some embassies do others don't.  Prepare a cosponsor package to contain what is listed below. If you need at the interview then present it. It's better to be prepared than not. 

 

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form (https://www.uscis.gov/i-134) K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with an original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript Use this link to determine the income levels needed https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p.

You're way to early. Try at the end of the following week.  Have you downloaded a copy of the PDF from the first page? A lot of tips, tricks and hacks.

They honestly don't care about the beneficiary and their financials.  Look no ones knows what a certain embassy or the CO will entertain.  If you feel the need to include your information then by all means prepare it but keep it simple. They are not going to look through a 30 page binder of charts, statements and whatnot.  Goid luck.

Thanks for the feedback and yes I have, the question was more so about the medical and if that can be completed with the case number only?

That depends on the embassy. Have you scoured the embassy website for your country? Have you called the medical examiner's office to see what they allow.

Just a quick one - I see a lot of people fussing around calling the NVC etc to get case numbers and things.
Do I actually have to do this? Am I at a disadvantage if I don't? I was under the impression everything would be sent to us/notified of everything as and when it's ready.

the wait is killing meeeeeee..... i feel like in limbo land..... uuugghhhhh.... 8 days since my NOA 2....it feels like yearrssss.... and my dad`s is getting worst by the day..

There are some embassies that once you have your case number then you can complete the medical and schedule the interview.  Others require the letter from NVC with the case number. And yet others require to wait till your case is at the embassy and they tell when you can begin scheduling the med and interview. Search others from your embassy that can advise what you can do.

So... I talked to a guy at USCIS last Monday the 13th and he said we were approved and the letter (NOA2) should be coming. 

We still have not received it. 

Does anyone know anything about this?

Normally the delivery of the NOA2 takes 2-4 weeks.

USCIS stated on their case tracker that they shipped mine out on April 22nd. I received an email from "National_Visa_Center@state.gov" on May 20th. The subject line of the email was "Notice of Immigrant Visa Case Creation". My guess is that you will probably receive it next week.
