Great news everyone... MY CASE WAS APPROVED TODAY! I didn’t get any RFE’s and I didn’t get any notifications either, from text, email or the app. I had to manually check tonight. It happened somewhere between the hours of 12 PM and closing PDT. The website now just says “case was approved” and that it was approved on August 15th 2019. Yay!!!!!!

Here is an example of doing to much to soon. When an error small like the one you were chancing it would have been better to have waited for your case to be processed to the NOA2 or to the the point in which you received a RFE. An RFE is typically a  2 week delay. I can tell you that you are not the first nor will you be the last to make that error. The adjudicating agent would have figured out the error while doing searches on the background checks. Little mistakes are not grounds for denial. Out and out deception is a problem which you didn't exhibit with your error. You're going to be ok. Good luck on the rest of your journey.

I tried to check case status on the old site but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Anyone else has this problem ?

the timeline from VJ doesnt really mean anything.... The timeframes posted on the uscis website are at about 5-7 months..., only after the date on that site can you call and do an inquiry and they MIGHT give you an answer... VJ is a just a helpful guide...

Most times an RFE is issued during the NOA2 stage for a K-1. If you answer it and give them EXACTLY what they want and no more then there is a good chance you will be approve. If they were to deny you would never receive a RFE but NOID.

"The not knowing pushes everything back for me." Not completing forms properly or not providing the information to adjudicate your case is what is holding you back. :thumbs:

I learned a couple of things during our journey and that was "He who has the gold makes the rules" and USCIS, NVC or your embassy never promised a date they will be completed with a step In this process. All they promised you was a YES or NO answer. Just saying.

BTW, Nigeria is a very difficult and time consuming embassy. I recommend that you "tone" down your anxiety because you are still looking at 6-8 months for a visa from Nigeria.

@G&BN

Thanks for responding @Greenbaum ! I accounted for the fact Nigeria's US embassy is very difficult but was hoping my case would be at the NVC by now. I am sitting here confused as to how someone can ideally plan a wedding with all these variables in the air. Though, I have just decided to calm down because worrying does not move my petition any further in the process. Hope deferred but not denied....

Congrats! Been following your case for awhile, we have very similar timelines. Was it the old or new site that updated? For me nothing's changed on the new site, but the old site might be bugged because when I enter my case number it just show the word "my" and nothing else. I just wana hear back already!!

Thanks! It’s just www.uscis.gov

oddly, I just checked the case number again right now and it’s saying “my” for me as well. Hmm. Idk.

i checked on “myuscis” and it just says case was received, you don’t need to do anything at this time. So I guess that site hasn’t updated yet?

This is a screenshot I took of when the USCIS.gov website said it was approved the night of the 15th.

Oh! Wait! I just got the USCIS.gov website to work! I’m on an iPhone, I switched it to private browsing mode and it showed me the approval page again.

Thanks for the tip! Oddly this worked for me too, but sadly my case is still just showing as received. Hopefully today's the day! Don't feel like having the thought in the back of my mind for another whole week. Best of luck with your transfer through the NVC, hope it's a quick one!
