I’ve been reading a lot about the affidavit of support requirements for the K-1 visa . I’m just a little confused as to what is the  initial requirement is , would it be 100% of the  poverty guidelines  or 125% ? I know 125% is required once the adjustment of status is filled. Also my  fiancé has his own  assets  and  established small business in his country , would any of this be helpful during the interview process to show  Financial stability on his part ? I myself have no problem meeting the 100% guidelines, just looking for  some clarification before we submit our I -129f application .

The  standard is that the consular must be convinced that the applicant will not become a public charge.  The 100/125% is merely a guideline starting point for the consular to make a decision.

YMMV

Foreign fiancé financial situation has no bearing at this stage.

They ask nothing about the beneficiaries finance, so unless it was something extreme I doubt it would be considered. And as mentioned, the 100/125% is just a guideline, just meeting those requirements doesn't necessarily please the embassy so just being at the minimum isn't a guarantee.

Thanks for the explanation, so is it safe to assume that the   Affidavit support  from the  petitioner  should cover up to ,or possibly over 125% mark ?

If you are at or below the threshold then the chances of a negative result are greatly increased

YMMV

@sonia1311 you will need to prove you are at or above 100% of the poverty guidelines when first submitting the I-134 affidavit of support .That amount goes up to 125% further along in process when you will need to submit the I-864 affidavit of support . You can check here  www.uscis.gov for poverty guidelines .
