Wrong. I have MBA and PhD from UCLA. In fact, your MBA without other advanced degree now-days is worthless. No one needs MBA without deep specialty knowledge. I can tell you this as a CEO of a company.

This is a total digression from the original topic but...

As with many grad programs, it depends on the circumstance. If one gets into a top MBA program, it certainly isn't worthless. Unless things have DRASTICALLY changed in the past few years, a Harvard/Stanford/Wharton (and probably UCLA too) MBA grad is going to get a job paying 6 figures if they put just a little effort into their job search. And as yourself noted, having deep specialty knowledge is useful. There are plenty of ways to have that knowledge other than an advanced degree.

(And no, I don't have a MBA. Just know a fair number who have one).

Well I have my BS in Information Security and I am currently working in the Information Security field right now. I have always wanted a MBA and I am wanting to transition more into management so that is why I choose that. The only other Masters I would after getting my MBA would be a MS or MPA. Right now in my field specialized certifications mean more than a advanced degree unless you want to get in to Management.

What are the chances i get the visa and if they ask why you join in that university what should be the best answer to convice them?

This is why you have ZERO Chance....

This part caught my eye:  "The University of Farmington was set up in 2015 to catch foreign nationals who had traveled to the US on student visas but stayed on by transferring to fake universities and then obtaining work permits through them."

This sounds exactly like what the OP described he/she did.......and I'm sure he/she would be suspected of trying it again in the future....knowingly or not....

"The US immigration process requires a great deal of knowledge, planning, time, patience, and a significant amount of money.  It is quite a journey!"

Who was being prosecuted and for what? Can you link the article you mention?

Does mitigate against a future visa if a student knowingly enrolled at an institution like that imo.

So wouldn't it amount to a material misrep and lifetime bar if a purported student got here or stayed here under those circumstances?

From the articles, it was badly set up sting operation, that duped a number of students who had no idea the university was not legit. Website presence was good, there were recruiters. There is a diplomatic raw between US and India over it now.

Seems like one can argue that OP was a unwitting victim with no misrepresentation intent.

That would only really arise if they applied for another Visa, and it seems unlikely that a non immigrant visa would pass the initial non immigrant aspect.

Many of the students come from poor backgrounds in India and took out "loans to study here to study and pursue the American dream," he said. Now, it will be difficult to pay off their debts after they're sent back to India.

They supposedly came here to study and go back......

At first maybe, they also said it should be pretty obvious what was going on as soon as anyone actually enrolled,..

it was one basement room

iCE argued everyone knew by the time they enrolled that they weren’t expected to actually study.

as for OP, hmm I stand by the assertion that any graduate student should be able to do enough research into where they want to do a graduate degree, especially one who has already studied in the US at graduate levek, he wasn’t a 17 year old naïf direct from a farm or something.

The sad thing is that you commiting immigration fraud to cut a corner can hurt you in the long run.  If you ever get a job at Microsoft or Amazon, and they require you to travel to the US, or give you the opporutnity to relocate, you can be inelligable.

Microsoft or Amazon job applicants are usually from reputable B-schools, and aren't usually visa mill students.

University admission is a months-long process if it is a genuine academic institution.

Depends on the circumstances.

I was accepted, enrolled, and attending classes as a transfer student to a reputable universitry within 3 days. I hauled ### to do so and met with admissions counselors each of the 3 days, plus meeting with the director of admissions.

Obviously this is not the norm, but absolutely possible.
