Hello Everyone I Applied for my mother visitor visa she went prepared with all the documents in the interview they just asked name who is calling you where you’ll be staying and that’s it nd gave 214B slip and said sorry visa rejected didn’t check or asked for any document or proof I.e today 29April 2019. And with her almost 50 people approx were there just 1person got the visa which marriage based, everyone else got rejected is the policy of ban is in effect that is why they rejected visas like crazy .. ......??? Anyone with their recent experience

My mum went for her interview too last month and was denied for the second time without any good reasons.

I even traveled down there this second interview and gave her all documents you can think of but no joy.

I saw 95% of people who came out of the embassy while waiting for my mum outside were all rejected (they're holding either pink or blue papers) ... looks like the US embassies are just following a kind of scripts and denying people without any reasons)

What sort of ties to Nigeria was she able to demonstrate?  The embassies do not just reject for no reason.  Statistically, people from certain countries are at much higher risk of not returning when they are supposed to.  By US law, the CO MUST assume immigrant intent, and the burden is on the applicant to show otherwise.

Hm, that may have been counterproductive- shows more ties to the child in the US...

My remaining two siblings are unmarried and lives in Nigeria with our dad. She is retired and she has a business.

Like I stated above, I am the only child in US out of 3 ...

I quite agree with you that a lots of people from Nigeria abused the B2 visas but you see that's the problem; they keep giving the wrong folks visas and rejecting genuine travelers.

Can you pls share where you got the information on rate of refusal from? ... I am not doubting it but just want read more about it

It only takes one to assume immigrant intent.

data on B refusal rate here, it is updated annually https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Non-Immigrant-Statistics/RefusalRates/FY18.pdf

How would they know who are the right folks?

Trumpo called out Nigeria recently for B overstays. That number should hit high 60s by next year.

So it's probably a game of numbers to them now :(

It's unfair to get everyone pay for some other people's misdeed ... IMO :)

Many times they don't. Lots of legitimate tourists are refused all the time. The law requires they err on the side of caution via a required presumption of immigrant intent.

Immigration is not fair. Everybody pays for the misdeeds of others.
