Hi everybody,

The last couple of days I've been trying to figure this out but seem to be unable to, maybe some of you guys have experienced the same thing or have advice?

I've entered the US March 12th, I wanted to get on top of things to start building my line of credit so became an authorized user on my husbands credit card. Now I want to have an idea of what my credit score is so I've tried to use CreditKarma and the Discover Credit Scorecard to make an account, but they both won't let me make an account. CreditKarma says : 'Your personal information doesn't match with credit bureau records.' and doesn't really give options to fix this issue.

Has anybody been through the same? What is the issue here? And how do I fix this? Does it have to do with my immigration status or my SSN/ name on my SSC? I did change it straight after I got married...

Hopeful to hear your thoughts!

Since you just came in last month then everything hasn't reported to the agencies yet. You will need to wait a couple months for the agencies to catch up.

I got a credit card in February one year and only got credit score in August the same year, August was the first time I could see anything. They can't give you any score until you have used the card long enough for them to have some numbers to count.

It will take a minimum of 90 days for anything to be reported to any of the credit bureaus. I added my fiancee about a year and a half before she moved here to my one credit card as a authorized user because the card had no foreign transaction fees, and it was easier for her to just use the card when she needed things. Saved me having to send money to her bank, I got a good exchange rate didn't have to pay any fees to send her money, and little did I know then that it would help later.

When she came to the US we added her to my bank account and opened her own account. When we were opening her bank account they asked if she wanted a credit card. I said, why not try, but I doubt she even has a credit score or anything, her social security card just arrived yesterday in the mail about 2 weeks after she got here in the US, it was the first thing we did. It turned out my adding her to the card over a year ago gave her a credit history, and she was sitting on an 811 credit score. She got her own card then, and has been using it on and off to keep building a credit profile. We even set her up with a credit building loan ( you might want to check into this, as it will be a fast way to build credit) and with the credit card and loan her score is doing good and she has regular reports to the credit agencies. Just Google fast way to build up a credit score, and you should get some good ideas.

Thanks for the response guys that makes sense. So because they need time to catch up that also makes me unable to even open an account on these websites yet?

Took me around 90 days to get some info back from them. I had no issue creating an account with credit karma though. Did you get the SSN before a name change by any change?

I can also state the secure credit cards work. I had one for 300,= used it and paid it of (kept it around 30% use) and went up to 700 in several months. Got it changed in to an unsecured one in a year and got a second card as well (ussing less than 10% now, just want a good score for when I find my new car :) )
