Hi everyone,

I got my NOA2 on 16th April - but don’t want to have my medical exam until July (can’t emigrate until November). How long in advance do medical appointments need to be booked/can they be booked?

I know I need my case number when I attend the medical - do I also need it when I book the medical?

Basically, I don’t really want my fiancé to call NVC to chase down a case number, if we don’t need to (it sounds like that phone line is kept pretty busy as it is!) and I know I will get the number sent by letter eventually - but it just occurred to me that I’m not sure of Knightsbridge wait times/booking procedure 🙃.

Thanks

While your mileage may vary, I booked mine last Wednesday, and my medical is on Tuesday of this week, so 6 days! :)

Ah ok - so if I wait until June to book, I should be able to get a July apt? I’d like a Friday morning apt ideally (so I can catch the train down on Thursday and stay at my sister’s - they live in London Sunday - Thursday, but return to their Nottingham home on Thursday night...so if I go on Thursday, I won’t have to sleep on an air bed 🙃)...so want to book in advance so I can be picky with apts...

Thanks for your help 🙃.

Yes, they ask for the LND number when you call to make the appointment. With your timetable it doesn't seem worth it for your fiance to be calling NVC for the number. You'll probably get the letter in May, which will give you a good amount of time to choose an appointment.

I booked our medicals for 4 weeks ahead. The receptionist offered an earlier appointment but I needed more time to gather the documents for my son (they required extensive reports for his condition). I don't know how far in advance you can book but she offered several options within the week I wanted. They also can offer appointments if there have been cancellations. So there is quite a bit of flexibility.

Congratulations again!!!! :D

When you call them they'll ask if you have your London case number, with you aiming for an approximate medical to be done in July, you're probably best just waiting it out until you receive it and then calling them to book once you have it. I booked mine for a month in advance and I'm sure many others wait longer too.

I know when the NVC shipped the case to the embassy Courtney received an email informing her, which had an attachment on it containing the case number, then 4-5 days after it arrived I received a letter from the embassy informing me it was ready for scheduling.

Sidenote: Take updated letters of intent to marry when you have your interview with it being a while since approval etc :)

Yeah, I want to wait it out - figure there’s no need to add to to that crazy wait on the NVC phone line - and why try to rush the process through if it’s not needed?

Definitely will - I fly over to Herschell next in August and come back on 10th September - hopefully my last ever visit 😍 - so that’s why I want to do the medical at the end of July...and then would like to schedule the interview for 11th September, so I can do it as soon as I get back in the country (and it gives a little over two months for the visa to arrive, assuming I’m successful).

Will be getting the affidavit of support, supporting documents and new letter of intent from Herschell when I’m there, so it’ll be a super up to date one 🙃.

Anyway, congrats to you too dude - LESS THAN TWO WEEKS TO GO, EEEEK!!!!

Absolutely, it's stressful as it is without causing additional worry. We took it steady and just slowtime prepped and it's the best.

Oooo I bet you're looking forward to that already, last leg back to the UK on your own. Oh actually, last time passing through Airport on your own as you'll be a sailor next time you go won't you!

Perfect! :D

Thank you, I can't believe it! Last week at work (Wednesday) and then a week on Saturday!
