Hello!

Once my husband gets his green card is there a certain amount of time that he has to move to the US? We are anticipating him moving here from Canada after the first of the year.  Things seem to be moving quickly for us.  If our VISA gets approved in October for example and he gets his green card,  can he wait until January to move here? His job would like him to work through the end of the year.

The green card isn't produced until paid for, and the visa is used at the border for admission into the USA. The visa is valid for up to 6 months from the medical date. If the concern is about remaining in Canada until the end of the year october-january is within 6 months, or you can delay things at the NVC phase to drag the process into the new year.

He will be getting an immigrant visa, not a green card. The visa will be valid for 6 months from the date of the medical. Is it possible to delay things at the NVC if you need more time.
