K1 Visa application process after the letter of eligibility (merged)

Hello all!

This question pertains to the Philippines process for a K1Visa.  Filed i129f, approved by USCIS, approved by NVC, and just received the letter of eligibility.  The letter itself states applying for a non immigrant visa, the us embassy states on its site that K visas are a non immigrant, all forums I have read and countless YouTube videos watched say non immigrant as well.  Today we created an account/profile at the ustraveldocs.com/ph site to begin the application.  We arrive at the visa type page and I select non immigrant (as everything has indicated we should) and a pop up window states if applying for a K visa close the window and then select immigrant visa.  Following through with this does in fact have the K visa as a class of immigrant visas during this process but contradicts everything I’ve read, even on their own site and letter of eligibility.  Sorry to be long-winded (worded) but is this correct?  Anyone else run into this and have things go through properly?  I suspect it’s because the immigrant visa services at the embassy are responsible for approving the K visa, but I just want to be sure.

Secondary, after following the process through the immigrant visa options, I get held up at the point where it’s asking to enter the visa fees ($265 per applicant) receipt number I will get after paying the MRV fee at the Bank of Philippine Islands.  Again, all my research contradicts this by saying pay the fee after submitting the application but I can not advance until entering in a valid receipt.  Does this sound correct as well?  My fiancé is very worried for not making mistakes.

I feel if the embassy’s own site is directing us in this manner then it’s the right process but I promised her to really research more before continuing.  I will be calling the embassy on the next day they are open, but thought I’d see if I could get some earlier answers through here in the meantime.

Thanks in advance ❤️

A K-1 is unique in that it is a non-immigant visa but it is handled by the immigrant visa unit at the consulate. You will be dealing with the IV unit moving forward, except for a final check before they actually issue the visa.

K1 is a dual intent visa .. sometimes referenced as an immigrant visa , and an as a non immigrant visa at others.  Why ? Who knows !!

I always presumed it was because the COs in the NIV section are not trained/experienced/whatever in the complexities of a K-1 visa. Other than not being legally married, the requirements are nearly identical to that of a spousal visa.

Lots of confusion there for sure.  Crazy how that happens.

K-1 is for sure processed as an immigrant visa.   Visa fee is paid at BPI, you will bring a deposit slip you print out from the below linked website, you will get a receipt from  BPI for the payYou DO NOT need the DS-160 completed to pay the visa fee or schedule the interview.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/visa-payment.html

Being you already have the letter from the embassy that is evidence of your case file being at READY status.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/scheduling-interview.html

You will complete a medical at St. Luke's  (SLEC), this is a two day process.

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/medical---slec.html

The complete process is listed here, follow the process and you will be done in short order:

http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

You will also need to complete CFO - GCP seminar (Philippine requirement)  ... I suggest getting this does ASAP as the available appt are about 1 month out.
