Me and my family applied for b1/b2 visa. We got a visa approved slip and we were told that we will get our passports within two weeks. It’s been 3weeks and we didn’t get our visa. Right after the interview we were emailed a 221 g refusal and additional documents were asked which we sent them the next day . It was a forum which had questions about our previous addresses and my dad’s work details. Our case was on administrative processing for 3weeks and now the ceac status shows refused for my parents  and for my sibilings it shows us AP with no update . We are freaking out because we were given the approved slip during the interview. We didn’t receive any email from them.

A verbal approval and all can be denied during AP if they find information out or can't verify things. It can happen for tourist visas, or immigrant visas. Try emailing or calling the embassy to try and check with them, but you might not get any specific information honestly. Really just have to wait to get your passports back and see if there's a visa or not. Generally when CEAC says "Refused", it means just that, "refused".

You will just have to wait and see what happens, it is only a tourist visa.

Generally not from Refused that I am aware of. And again, even a verbal approval/slip isn't official until it's "Issued" status. It can be again denied/refused if something is found during AP or comes up. Hence why you got the approval, but then they gave you a 221g form because during the AP they needed more info, the info you gave either resulted in the denial or it wasn't sufficient for them. The CO's "approval" can be over turned during AP. Again try contacting the embassy but usually they just give generic responses without anything too specific.

It’s weird we are six applicants . Some show refused and some show administrative processing . They asked for very simple information which we gave them in a huge detail with all work numbers and addresses . Thr was nothing complicated in our case. This sudden refused status has shocked us.

You are overthinking. Forget about the status, until a visa is approved then it's either refused or in AP. There is no obligation for the status to be correct or updated every day.

Anyway it's just a tourist visa, not something life changing, plenty of other places in the world to visit.

Refused means refused. Is it possible that it's a mistake on the website? Sure....but that's a long shot hope.

Not all refusals are permanent. Some can be overcome, depending on the reason for refusal.

Nothing to do now but wait until you get more information. Everything else is speculation.

Plus we didn’t get any email from the embassy about the refusal. Even emailed them two days back but we got no reply till now.

They are not under obligation to reply to you. What were you hoping they would say? All they will tell you is what you already know - check the CEAC status. Until you get your passport back with the visa inside you can assume you are not coming here. There is no right to a visa.
